It's way too early for Matip to start too, he looked well short of fitness today. Lovren and Klavan should be the centre backs.

Yeah, I agree on Matip unless he reaches new levels of fitness over the week, then switch him in for Lovren. I'm looking forward to seeing more from Wijnaldum but he's not shown it yet so bench for him as Firmino starts. However I wouldn't be surprised to see Lallana start either. Klopp loves him and he was superb vs Barca.

As I posted in the provisional Arse thread. This is the one most likely according to Arse fans (though discord there as well of course). I've taken the liberty of moving Sanchez to CF (as some Arse fans said) and brought in Gabriel as it seems he's fit to start. Ozil & Giroud unlikely since they have hardly had any pre-season at all yet. You could also bring in Coquelin alongside Xhaka and move Ramsey wide right .. if Wenger is shit scared of our attack.

Excellent. It would be an opportune moment to sell them Lucas as an emergency replacement.

As I said here, Lallana could well start this game, I've just read the Echo (Pearce) seems to think so too. Milner it seems is not going to be fit to start so that means Moreno must FFS.

A possible shock starter could be Grujic. He did very well against Barca, a major step up, and again vs. Mainz probably our best player for 45 mins, add that to his consistently good to very good performances all pre-season and is Henderson's place under attack already ? He was accurately rated lower than Grujic against both Barca and Mainz where he failed to build on his Milan performance. Big call indeed but will Klopp make it ?
 
Ojo injured too.

Sheyi Ojo has joined Liverpool’s growing list of injured players.
The exciting Reds winger wasn’t considered for either the Wembley showdown with Barcelona or Sunday’s trip to Mainz after complaining of discomfort in his back.
The problem isn’t believed to be serious but the decision was taken for Ojo to remain on Merseyside and undergo treatment.

We now have twice as many injured as the next team on the Injured List.

Haha, sorry was just chilling out on the flight home with some of Germany's finest beer after that performance. My medical team inform me Milly will be fine.
 
Iwobi has been their player of the pre-season, so I expect he will start. Similar for Firmino for us.

Marks team seems the most likely at this stage, though I'd swap Firmino and Coutinho:

Exactly as I would pick it. However there are still the questions of whether Lallana & / or Grujic will start due to their pre-season form and that Klopp obvious likes them.
 
I think we'll start with same starting line up as Barcelona, meaning Hendo will be the main casualty on the bench. It was interesting seeing Lallana playing in a deeper role but his pressing as always was effective - my main concern at times were the lack of bodies in the box quickly enough after Mane was put in behind the defence a couple of times.

Considering how much Klopp values Lallana's input I can see us starting with this line-up next week. It would be different if we were at home or away at Burnley for example but at Arsenal he'll either want his 'workers' on from the start or will have them queued up so that when fucked he just immediately subs the next in line on.

Mane ............... Lallana or Firmino ................ Coutinho

................................. Origi

Those 'partners' being ; Lallana & Firmino, Origi & Ings, and Henderson & Milner. I can see Mane seeing out the game and Wijnaldum or Grujic coming on for Coutinho.

I do like Brizzle's team above though.
 
Injuries to Sturridge, Karius and Milner have put a large dent in the best available XI.

And it's very concerning that the only player likely to start in defence that I have any genuine confidence in, is the right-back.

Thor has looked OK in the bits I have seen - slow as fuck, though -, but Matip, Lovren and Moreno have looked fucking shite at times.

The only new player - who is fit - that I'm genuinely excited to see start is Mane.
 
would anyone favour a 352 formation with matip klavan and lovren back there and markovic playing lwb? just until we get a proper LB at the club.

Anything to not start moreno please.
