OK 'everyone' is an overstatement i read several articles in the press commending what Kenny is trying to build with the vision he has for this side...I really just mean fans of other teams I know... probably just winding me up.

yeah yeah, history smishtory, but it is pretty freaking scary to think we haven't beaten arsenal away in any competition for over ten years.

Quite, and to be pedantic that game was in 2000, not 2001, so it's longer still.

Gonna be a good game either way, they look like they'll concede and so do we, hopefully we'll score more!

Yep. Cue a 0-0.

Jack Wilshere injured an ankle in pre-season on 31 July. He was ruled out for three weeks but is a major doubt for Saturday's Premier League game with Liverpool.

Kieran Gibbs injured his hamstring in the 1-0 defeat of Udinese at the Emirates on Tuesday. He was replaced by Johan Djourou, who was taken off with the same injury. Neither Gibbs nor Djourou will play on Saturday.

Tomas Rosicky played with a groin strain against Udinese but is a doubt for Saturday's match. Armand Traoré injured his groin in a reserve game this week, and Abou Diaby is a long-term absentee after ankle surgery.

New signing Gervinho is suspended for three domestic matches after his red card against Newcastle United last Saturday: he will miss games against Liverpool, Manchester United and Swansea. Alex Song will miss the same three games after a retrospective violent conduct charge for stamping on Joey Barton in the same match.

Daniel Agger will be fit for Saturday’s trip to Arsenal.

The Dane picked up a dead leg in the game against Sunderland at the weekend, but has made a full recovery, and will be available for selection at the Emirates.

Honestly, I think it'll be another 1-1 =(

Its gonna be tough game regardless. We havent won away to Arsenal in the last 10 years, and NEVER EVER at the Emirates.
So, regardless of injuries or whose missing it wont be easy.

Im hopeful for a win, but everything can happen in this game. It all depends on who turns up and what team Kenny picks. Already nervous as fuck.

We've played better at the Emirates than we have at Highbury though, haven't we got three draws there? Keane, Kuyt and Crouch?

If our fitness levels are better than Saturday and we don't fold after half time again then we will win this game and i think we will win it well. Arsenal can often be perversely dogged and determined like their manager but they will be missing Fabregas,Nasri,Wilshere,Song and the under-rated Djourou and talented Gervinho. I think we will have too much for them if we play well, fingers well and truly crossed.

It is a massive game, a 6 pointer, a draw is OK a defeat a disaster and a win will really get the wind in our sails and our confidence high, drawing with Sunderland was disappointing but at the same time there was enough evidence in the first half to suggest that if we get it right and start playing well we can really give it a go this season.

Having spent 100M on the team I thought we missed a trick in not buying in players to make the fans excited and expectant but in that first 45mins against Sunderland I saw enough to be quietly optimistic and understand that now, for the first time in years and years we have a squad capable of winning it all and most importantly I think the players must know that also.

A confidence boosting win against an Arsenal side under fire would really get our momentum up good and early. Feeling that we might sneak fourth is all well and good, but with who we've got it would be silly to not to be a little more confident than that. No pressure like but beating Arsenal could well awaken the beast that is King Kennys LFC.

a loss isn't a disaster, not this early in the season.

I think we played 0-0 against 10 men there aswell if I remember correctly. But we've also lost 3-0 there.
It wont be easy. Arsenal have actually been better defensivly than offensivly according to by Gunners supporting mates.

Disagree Neil. Winning would damage a direct competitor and fire up the engines early doors, it's true it is a marathon not a sprint and obviously wouldn't be fatal if we lost as it's only game 2 but I am really excited about this team of ours now, I think a win will give us a massive boost. Massive.

Suarez is every bit as good as Rooney, Carrol looks sharp, all those cunts who were moaning about Downing were being hasty, I reckon we've got enough and I reckon the sooner the players realize that and show it with results the better. Let's fucking do these southern shandy poofters.

if we lose I hope you don't fling yourself off a cliff.

To be honest as this week has gone on ive got more confident.
As i said in another thread, one of the reasons I think we will win the league is our lack of European football. Not only did Arsenal have to play in Europe midweek, but they will again next week and in the game they all but lost their starting back 4.
From their strongest starting 11 they are going to be missing Gervinho, Song, Gibbs, Djourou and Wilshere.
And although they can still put out a quality team (and dont be fooled by they saying its shit, it isnt)
Sczezny
Traore
Vermaelen
Koscielny
Sagna

Ramsay
Rosicky
(wouldnt be suprised to see) Nasri

Arshavin
Van Persie
Walcott

you would have to think their pre-season training etc would be geared towards a team with Gervinho, Wilshere etc in it, so hopefully they wont gel too well.
Its clear it will be won or lost in the middle of the park, and thier middle 3 is creative but NOT combative, so hopefully we play Spearing and Lucas together to rip them to pieces and Meireles to push on.

arsenal could put out their reserves and I would be worried because of their style of play. they play triangles in and around your penalty box and frankly I think our defenders are ill equipped to cope with it. the silver lining is arsenal will always (ALWAYS!) give you the chance to get back into the game.

[/quote]Except...EXCEPT in all those games they win comfortably.
I think some people are listening to the press a bit much. They were 10 points ahead of us last season, and so far all that has happened is we have signed a few MOR players and they have lost a player who hardly played last year.
Their manager is a fucking genius, they find a way to play without spending fortunes and in Wilshere, Ramsay, Gervinho, Oxlade, Van Persie, Vermaelen, Sagna, Song, Arshavin, Walcott etc they have some fucking brilliant players. They may yet lose Nasri which will be a big blow but they will strengthen quickly. They know what they are doing, Wenger wont be sitting at Ashburton and crying as it all falls apart. They are a top TOP club with money to spend and a squad and youth set up the envy of most teams. I for one think their demise is being way overblown in the press.
