Surley a dive is a dive Stu?
Well, yeah Rafa, it is.

The act of diving to gain an advantage is the same where ever it happens on the pitch.
But the consequences for it are different as you know so I think one can be considered more of an offence to be honest.

Like Nessy said, Didi wouldn't dive per say, he would draw the contact and then drop. Duff is also excellent at this tactic. That isn't really diving, I would call it being clever. Had Ngog's boot been tipped, even slightly, then we could all make a case for him. But we've all seen what he did, there is no defence for the lad or his actions.

A bluenose had sent an email into SSN this morning saying how it shold have been a pen, as Carsley didn't get the ball and if Ngog hadn't moved his body out of his Carsley's way he would have not only made contact but probably ended up hurting Ngog too. Either way be onstructed him from a chance on goal, so why should Ngog be punished for moving himself out of harms way.

Valid argument, I thought. Or maybe just a chance for the bluenose to have a dig at Carsley.

rafa will take n'gog's actions as a blessing in disguise - it'll have distracted some pressure away from one win in nine.

Now PFA boss Gordon Taylor (yawn) is having his say. Moral obligation, blah blah blah, good of the game, blah, although he did say that these incidents tend to even themselves out over the course of the season. Thanks Gord, now get back to counting your pennies.

I think the FA should come down on us like a ton of bricks. The next time it happens, for a Liverpool player obviously, we should castrate him and hang his balls in Soho Square. That'll teach the cunt. Oh, and a 12 match ban.

Think of it like the week long 'respect' campaign, and that day long 'any holding in the box is a penalty' campaign. They both worked, and hold true today, all you need to do is make an example of the Scousers and then the world is good again.

Siiimples.

If wash had just kept his trailing foot down lower to make sure there was contact and was english a la bent on saturday there would be no problem. Bent was going down so far before he stuck his leg out to touch Gomes it was unreal. Ngog needs to learn to be more clevre if he is going to be at that. Gerrard would of went down too imo but he would of made sure his foot made contact with carsley.

PS I always liked Ngog too. Great little piece of business

Yet Drogba does it throughout his Chelsea career, Rooney still swears at officials, etc, etc..

If he didnt decide to dive he would have earned one of the clearest penalties for years. Carlsey was no where near the ball... In the end he oculd have been a hero, instead he is a cheating cunt. Fuck!
I was beginning to think I was the only one who thought this. Yes he dived but if he hadnt Carsley would have landed him in row ten of the Anfield Road end. Carsley made a lunge and was nowhere near the ball.
Yes, quite, the TV reliance on studying slow motion replays led to the silliest nonsense from people who, in a cooler hour, should've known better, such as McLeish, who stared at it frame by frame and decided N'gog could have stopped, 'jumped over' Carsley's feet and then carried on. That's as bad as old blokes down the pub explaining how players could've jinked their way past ten opponents and slotted the ball in the net at lightening pace. Detached from reality. It's not as if both players were running together towards the byline - N'gog was cutting in and Carsley was flying across him. And as for Carsley's moving concern for the children of the nation being traumatised by the sight of such diving, well, I hope he'll now practice what he so belatedly preaches and cut out all of the elbowing, kicking and bone shaking tackles from behind he specialises in.

One thing that does bemuse me about Wash is that, right from the start in the reserves, he keeps reaching out for the ball with his hand like a kitten spotting a piece of wool. He did it again, yesterday, trying to punch in a cross. The coaching staff must have seen the habit by now, but still it goes on.
I think the coach will teach or should have taught Wash to drag is feet while jumping to avoid Carsley sliding tackle that did not touch the ball and then there will be anymore arguments.

A 2 game suspension would be suitable, and no appeal from Liverpool. Then we would forever be able to slam other divers with integrity in hand. I know the timing is abysmal, but hey, this season is down the drain anyway, and for the long run it will only do us and the sport well!

I like Ngog and have done ever since i saw him do the elastico in his first game for us in preseason last year. Slowly but surely the rough edges are being smoothed out. He's got great potential and good goal scoring record for us.
Agreed. The simple thing for him to do is to leave his foot trailing behind and ensure there is contact with the player. Darren bent did it on saturday against Spurs and there has not been a peep about that. He will learn, become more cute, and get better at it. Like Gerrard and Torres.

Plus, we are the whipping boys at the moment, so I expect nothing else from the hacks.

In a similar vein, Rafa will be pleased by the fog as well, means that people wont notice the lack of strikers

Eggnog will be back playing in France within 2 years

He isn't very good
He cost £1.5m and so far has a good goals to games ratio, given he's a squaddie who's doing a job. I notice you never mention Babel when talking about our 'shit' players, wouldn't wanna be wrong eh?

babel is mark's ace in the hole conversation stopper/argument winner.
he uses it only in emergencies.

N´gog has so far provided more than would be expected from his cameo appearances. Check his goals per min ratio in these games.

In the odd first team starts he has performed adequatley and it is obvious how his game is developing.

What would you have expected differently from the young lad?

Nothing so far has suggested in the slightest that you're right on this one.

So you're probably going to be proved very wrong.

Brendan, if you rubbish every single one of our prospects, you'll generally be right, but it isn't very clever.

N'Gog has the perfect build to do well in the league. His touch is inconsistent, but it is sometimes quite accomplished. He can be tricky, he's pacy, he is going to be strong and he has a perfect build for the league. More importantly, he's responded very well to the opportunities he has had. He makes decent runs at times and isn't aimless like Babel.

It's not certain he'll end up really getting up to the next level, but I think your confidence that he definitely won't is misplaced. At any rate, he is a scouting success for sure, and we'll make money when we sell him.

He needs to work on his goal celebrations though.

What other 'prospects' have I rubbished?

What is a prospect anyway? Does Insua count? He's useless, too.

Who else have I rubbished? Lucas? Kirkland? Palletta? Plessis?

Confused

It's a great tactic to look right most of the time when you support a club who have underacheived for 20 years. It means by and large most players brought in have not succeeded.

I like Wash alot and as you say if we sold him now we would get 5-6M.
