Whoever he's got lined up has got to be willing to play a bit part and we've got to be willing to blood another player into the side.

This is a side who just lost out on the title last season, and one that is now faced with the prospect of losing two top quality central midfielders and a steady consistent fullback.

If we lose at least two of the three I'll be gutted because it could have a devestating impact on our title hopes.

Much of our success of late has been bred through familiarity within the team.

ok.. he was an ever present because he twice proved he was better than the shite Rafa thought he could replace him with. Rafa even tried playing him at right midfield, presumably because he thought Josemi was more adept at defending, which of course was a load of fucking shit.

I'm not sure whether you're trying to soften the blow but your memory is selective at best. Arbeloa was excellent when he covered the left back position following his arrival (so much so that some were questioning whether it was his natural position) and bar a handful of bad performances he's been a very solid player for us. He is an excellent squad option who can cover both fullback positions very competently. Unless we're getting a decent sum for him I don't see the point in selling him at all.

No I wasnt trying to soften any blow. I was happy enough with Arbeloa at RB. I thought he did a very good job overall although he did fade badly towards the end of last season. Its when people talk about him covering at LB and, God help, us CB, that I take issue.

I've seen him play at CB where his lack of positional sense and physical presence were painfully exposed.

Some people seem to base their belief that he was good a LB on his debut performance against Messi. After that Im afraid it was mostly downhill.

By all means keep Arby as a backup RB but dont try making him seem better than he is.
