Aquilani isn't joining Milan, bet that

Further to my comment regarding Milan looking to reduce their wage bill ... they have offered Flamini a contract offer of roughly 1.8M per season, a downgrade from his previous 4M per season.

If Flamini rejects this deal and moves on, it's expected that Milan will then make a similiar offer to Aquilani.

All comes down to Flamini's decision.

Berlusconi's company, Fininvest, have also been hit hard by the downturn in the economy. Fininvest also owe €560 million in fines when the company was found guilty in bribing a judge during a takeover.

Does ANYTHING happen in Italy without someone getting a bung?

He won't play for us again, he's on too high a wedge, has too many question marks over his mentality (this is the guy who was self assessing his own fitness and health in first season for us) and probably wants to stay in Italy.

Good player mind, but his ability is far too exaggerated based on the fact he made brief appearances, was treated poorly and that we lack creativity big time. It'd still be interesting to see and we might have faired a bit better with him in the side, but this is all dream stuff. Absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that.

Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani admits he is keen for the new manager to be put in place so he can discuss his own future.

The Italy international has been sent out on loan back to his homeland the last two seasons and although a deal was in place for AC Milan to buy him this summer he did not play the required 25 matters to trigger his £6.5million compulsory purchase.

"I'm waiting for Liverpool to decide the name of the new coach, then we will meet in order to understand their plans," he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"Only then will I be able to make the right decision. It is important that I have the opportunity to make a contribution, to be able to play well and play regularly.

"I need to understand whether there are conditions for an agreement that satisfies everyone."

Milan still have the option to renegotiate a deal but Aquilani's agent Franco Zavaglia said the onus was now with Liverpool.

"The situation is that there have been no developments," he told spaziomilan.it.

"We must be patient and wait for Liverpool to make a decision.

"There is no problem, but before talking about what Alberto wants to do we must first understand what the British club intend to do."

Read between the lines Binny.

He's saying, "I hate Liverpool, I want to stay in Italy".
"England is boring and rainy, and there are too many foreigners there"
"There is no chance in hell that I'm going back to Liverpool"
"I love playing in Italy, fuck England"
*Fascist salute*

Looks like Milan will have to definitely sell one of either Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva, or Pato due to the clubs economic problems.

Of those 3 players the one I offload is Pato - purely because of his injury problems - but whether PSG are still looking to offer big money for him remains to be seen.

Ibrahimovic possibly to Man City ... and they should be able to replace him with either Tevez or Balotelli ...

Thiago Silva ... that would just be a big big loss as I'm not sure who they can replace him with. Most likely make a play for Ogbonna from Torino or Zapata from Villareal (who were relegated this season).

Looks like Ibrahimovic might be on his way out for 40M Euros.

I think he might only have 1 year left on his contract after this season, which would mean Milan would have to let go of him a low price if he doesn't sign an extension.

He's come out a few times in recent weeks voicing concerns with Milan's project - which has stalled somewhat due to their financial situation.

PSG, Man City are set to be linked as per usual.

He's a brilliant striker Ibra.
Never seems to get the respect football wise he deserves.
Maybe because he looks like a massive cunt though.

Ibrahimovic? Is not he 31? Fucks sake he was never that good, he really can't be more than a 15m euros sort of a player on a three year ..surely

Does seem like a massive twat, but one hell of a footballer.

Milan were nothing without him last season, and strangely more fans would like to see him sold ...

Pato is a quality player, but Milan have consistently failed to treat his injuries ... he's not going to win them a Scudetto playing 50% of games.

I went a bit like mad in this topic just then but I really do like those posts, for different reasons.

I'm never a fan of players who wilt on the big occasion, and Ibrahimovic does that in spades. That said, he's always scored against weaker teams in whichever league(s) he's been playing in, and we have sorely missed that lately, last season in particular. I can't bring myself actually to want him, but we could definitely do with someone who could do a similar job.

He won the title 9 years in a row in 3 different countries for 4 different clubs. He can't be that shit. Admittedly some of those were revoked under the match fixing scandal stuff in Italy, but still.

He actually scores against top sides a little more than he's given credit for, however over the course of his career it's fair to say that he's not done it nearly enough on the big stage.

He's a great player and has a CV that that would make all but a very very few envious, but obviously not in the same bracket as guys like Messi, Ronaldo, Zidane et al, players of a generation.

Whats the point of selling him for such a low fee? Better to keep him.

£3 mill.may only be a fraction of what we paid for him but it's better than 100% of bugger all. He does not want to be here and we'll never get any kind of value out of him if we make him come back.

Sell sell sell.

£3m plus the £4.5m we would save in wages next season.
It can be put to a lot better use I think

We'd be saving a lot more if we got rid of the dynamic duo. Fatman & useless.
Very perceptive of you Modo to point out we have other useless players on our wage bill as well as Aqualini
