*Is done with Rafa*
I understand the frustration with Rafa, but tonight is a funny won. If Lyon, something Rafa had no control over, had beat Fiorentina, no one would have been calling for him to be sacked or feel done with him, would they?
Yea, and if we'd won the league every season, something we don't have full control over, we wouldn't be talking about rafa this way.

That's stupid and makes no sense. My point is, tonight's result *could* have been enough to save him if other things (beyond his control) had gone his way. Of course he has to shoulder the earlier results of the group, but he could have got away with it and people would have forgiven and forgotten the poor results against Lyon and Fiorentina.

Im not done with Rafa because Aquilani played 50secs.
Im done because we played 9 defensive players against a team of almost part timers, a game we needed to win 3 or 4 nil to have any chance to qualify REGARDLESS of the result in italy.
He then took of our only forward for a midfielder.
Ive just had enough of this shit.
Im beaten.

moronic decision by rafa

Aquilani won't be starting this weekend - it was a time wasting maneuver, designed to ensure we hold onto a 1-0 win as the team has no confidence whatsoever.

I'm with Andy ... My confidence in Rafa is almost shattered.
sorry ltw but he should have come on earlier. and if you want to waste time at the end put someone else on.
Ok - you missed my point. I thought the sub was an absolute joke. I don't get it.

Don't be such a fucking farthead.

Only the morons would have forgotten those results.

Life is complicated enough without having counterfactual debates: "the way we feel now makes no sense when you consider how we'd feel if everything was different". What are you saying, we need to consider things that haven't actually happened when we evaluate Rafa's performance?

That's an interesting approach.

Hey everyone, before we condemn rafa for playing Lucas let's take a moment to consider how different things would be if Lucas was a really excellent player!

YEAH WE WON THE GAME BUT YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE THIS, THIS AND THIS!

Mate ... You watched that game ... The team looked terrible. We were playing a midfield with Kuyt, Aurelio, Lucas & Mascherano - and the only creative spark we were getting was from a 'nearing fitness' Gerrard and a improving Ngog. That says enough. The team struggled to beat the 4th (or 5th?) placed team in Hungary and we needed GOALS if we had any chance if we had got a favorable result in Florence. Surely you can put down your red tinted specs for a few minutes ...

Behave yourself Ryan, you know fine rightly we needed to smash them tonight, a 1-0 meant fuck all. We were out even if Lyon scored and you know it.
Besides im not ranting and raving, im not going to slate Rafa and get after his every decision, ive just had enough. I cant abide this shit.

Ryan, people are pissed off because we haven't played a game in ages where we don't demonstrate the same essential flaws.

People are looking for some sort of indication that Rafa has some clue how to turn things around. You can't tell me you saw that against Debrecen?

Look on the bright side everyone. We got Aquialani on the cheap. We'd have had to pay 30 million big ones for him if he wasn't a crock.

Well my dear Ali, at least we didn't allow them to score on their last minute 'gimme goal opportunity'. Surely that can be counted as progress, no?

We've been playing shit for months, did you expect us to fucking revolutionise into world-beaters overnight? A win, a fucking dirty scrappy one, was what we needed. And we got it. Did I read that we had 20 shots to their 2 or something?

And as for criticisisng our midfield? Well who fucking well else was he going to pick? Should he have thrown Alonso and John Barnes in there? That's our fucking midfield LeTall, and we dominated the game.

There are threads and posts on this forum currently calling for Guus Hiddink, Kenny Dalglish, Rafa out before Xmas - AND YOU'RE ACCUSING ME OF NOT BEING REALISTIC.

For the love of fucking God.

No Oncy, we needed to win, which we did. We were the far better side.

Obviously people are fucked off that we're going to be playing in the Europa bastarding Cup, but that's not as a result of what happened tonight is it? We won the fuckign game, and people are up in arms.

We're out cos of ordinary performances, shite defending and missed chances from earlier games in this competition.

the poor boy didn't look too good when he came on either. maybe he read the babel interview where rafa blamed babel for dropping points when he'd come on for 5 minutes at the end.

chin up aquilani lad. just think when you do start it'll be next to lucas, that's when i'd really start to worry if i were you.

Fark, maybe my expectations were markedly lower then. After a run of form that's seen us win once in what 10/11 games, all I wanted tonight was a win.

I thought we dominated the game. First half we played some lovely stuff at times, and I can barely remember Debrecen getting out of their half. In the second half, they came into it more but that was always going to happen. We sat back a bit, which is to be expected given that we're hardly flush with confidence, and we're looking to just not fucking concede for once.

If you were expecting us to steamroll any side given the shit performances we've been serving up for months, then you're being unrealisitic I'm afraid.

Let's be honest here - People are complaining about how we won a game.

In the unenviable position of agreeing with some points of *both* sets of diametrically opposed posters, from oncey and rag through to ryan

Lucas is a cunt, and the appearance of purple was a mystifying joke
