Henry winter (Daily Telegraph) tagged this little nugget on to the end of his write-up of Saturday's game:

He added that he hoped Daniel Agger (gashed head) would be fit to board today’s flight to Hungary for tomorrow’s Champions League date with Debrecen. Fernando Torres (groin) will not be travelling, Ryan Babel (ankle) is a doubt while Alberto Aquilani will not be rushed. “Still he is not ready,’’ insisted Benítez.

So, perhaps the new year?

I don't think we're being told the full story at all.

Definately. Is this the new Agger thread?

Aquilani's on drugs? Aquilani likes car parks?

What a disaster of a season this is turning into.

I also have a bad feeling that Torres will come back in a few weeks, break down again, and end up having the groin operation, meaning he'll hardly play for us till next February.

Im saying it reflects the fans being kept in the dark. Has Rafa taken a look at him and thought not what I thought he would be? Does he have Ledley Kings knees?

Stewart Downing was out for a long time came back and played half an hour, Aquilani has played like 15 minutes for the first team. All im saying is I am worried!

Rafa how is he ever going to be ready if he doesnt get game time? Im seriously starting to think that Rafa is keeping him on the bench so he doesnt have to drop Lucas.

Thank you Dee. I feel better already.

Seeing as he's been brought back too early on more than one occasion in Italy, where the medical staff at Roma appear to be less than reliable, I'd be concerned if we didn't err on the side with caution with him. That's not to say it isn't hugely frustrating, but - seeing as there's a mob waiting to pounce on his first injury problem by hailing it as proof of the fact he's a 'crock' - it's surely prudent to make absolutely sure he's completely right to start a game this time?

The lad had zero pre-season, hasn't played since March, and is recovering from two injury-devastated years. It's hardly surprising it might take him a while to get up to full match fitness, especially coming from Serie A to the Premier League.

He did this one too.

Amazing what a lazy eye does for you in the pulling stakes

Why would you want to actually play football

Rafa bought him for the next 'five years, not the next 5 months'

Although the 5 months in question could arguably get him the sack, which would be ironic

i agree with all of this which makes me reflect even more - why did rafa claim 8 weeks when we signed him?

Occasionally the crazy needs to be beaten down with the reason stick.

To mis-quote Captain Quint, I think you're gonna need a bigger stick.

Aquialini is currently risking a strain with:

The man does seem to have a trend going here

Im not sure our medical staff is very reliable either...
[/quote]

Let me guess...because Rafa hired them all?

Purple has been in full training with the rest of the skwad since before the CC game vs Arsenal, which is 4 weeks ago. So I would imagine after 4 weeks full training, he may be up to enough of a level of fitness to start a game. If he is fucked by half time, then whip him off. Or at least a sub appearance for more than 8 minutes.
Fuck, if Rafa is waiting for a cushy game when we are 3-0 up at half time, then we might not see him until next season.

Rafa fired half of our staff members, Id be surprised if hired anyone.
Well our injury record is getting ridiculous. Its like we're blessed with injury prone players.

Here's a thought:

Maybe after a few months of training, Rafa and the rest of the coaching staff have realised he's not all that good?
