Has no one else picked up on this one? I know the source is dubious but given this site's obsession with all things Lucas, I thought that any rumour about a second player with the same name would be jumped upon!!! Am I quiffing? Has this been discussed and lost in the myriad of threads on Lucas?

Liverpool and Spurs chasing Lucas

29th Jul 2011 - Transfer Gossip

Liverpool and Tottenham are set to go head-to-head for the signature of Sao Paulo midfielder Lucas, according to reports in Brazil.

The 18-year-old, whose full name is Lucas Rodrigues Moura da Silva, broke into the Sao Paulo team last year and has made four appearances for the Brazilian national side.

And that has reportedly led to both Premier League clubs declaring an interest in him, although AC and Inter Milan are also said to be keen.

But Lucas insists he is in no rush to move to Europe and says he has not yet decided on his future.

"I read that I have decided to go to Italy, but that isn't true," he told Brazilian newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo.

"At the moment my thinking is to continue and improve at Sao Paulo because I am young and need more experience before making the leap to Europe, but I haven't yet decided where I will go."

Liverpool are currently looking at the possibility of signing teenage sensation Lucas Moura, who has starred for Sao Paulo this season.

According to reports coming out of Brazil
, Liverpool are currently scouting the Brazil international who has enjoyed a successful career so far.

The 19-year old is known as one of the hottest properies in Brazilian football at the moment with his performances inspiring Sao Paulo's title challenge.

Speculation has increased over this month as the scouts used to sign Lucas Leiva from Gremio in 2007, have began watching the attacking midfielder. There would be competition for the youngster as he is being watched by a range of other clubs including Lazio, Malaga and Marseille.

But the Premier League side believes they would be able to lure him to the Kenny Dalglish revolution because, whilst on international duty, he shares a room with Lucas Leiva.

Whilst a move in January would appear unlikely, it is reported that Liverpool are looking to arrange a deal for next summer as they see him as a future prospect.

same here, he looks absolute quality. hopefully there's something in this as it's been rumoured a few times now.

I just hope if we do get him he can hack it in this league and w don't convert him to a fucking rb or something

lucas leiva - 'sign for liverpool'
lucas moura - 'why?'
LL - 'well I play every week and I'm average, you'll get in the team easy'

If i was in the market for a young player from the Brazillian leagues it would be Ganso, he plays for Santos and hes basically the reason why Neymar looks so good, hes gonna be a big star in a few years but he seems to have avoided the hype machine so far, would take him over this Lucas II any day

even if we dont sign hes well worth keeping an eye on for the next few years

Hahahaha!

The 19-year old is one of the most exciting talents in the Brazilian Campeonato at the moment being one of the star players for Tricolor.

Even at the early age of 19, he has already made seven appearances for the national side, and is currently being tracked by a host of European clubs including Chelsea, PSG and Valencia. It was believed while Chelsea signed Lucas Piazon from Sao Paulo back in March, Lucas was looked at as another option by the London club in case Piazon's work permit application was turned down.

He is enjoying a great season at the moment being one of the first names on the team sheet for the title challengers. Also, because of his fantastic performances at the South American Youth Championships in the summer, he won Best player of the Tournament. A young player with a bright future and a player the Premier League could well be seeing soon.

Drible de Lucas- São Paulo X Ceará / Brasileirão 2011

I read an article in four four two aaages ago which included interviews with some Brazilian legends who were asked to list the player's that could put Brazil back on their pedestal. The name mentioned we're Neymar, Ganso and Lucas (Moura).

Granted, I've never seen him live (I don't think) but from clips, he looks pretty physically strong. That is a good thing if he moves here.

Never mind all this exciting play, goals, strength, great through balls and so on, cut to the chase......

What's his sideways passing like?

Lucas Moura has admitted he would like to follow in the footsteps of Neymar and sign a new São Paulo deal until after the 2014 World Cup.

A new deal is being proposed and given the recent example of Neymar's bumper package at Santos, Lucas can expect a significant wage rise - as São Paulo look for sponsors to fund the deal.

"I have agreed to discuss a new deal with São Paulo," said Lucas, in an interview for the launch of his official website.

"The more players we get here is better, so I was happy with the news of Neymar.

"He's a great player and an idol of the country. If you like football, you like Neymar.

"Personally, I like to play in my country, in São Paulo, to be close friends of my family."

In the last week there has been much talk of Manchester United and Liverpool interest in the player, but the player's agent was cool on the prospect of an English deal.

"They only joined other big Italian and Spanish clubs who want Lucas," said Wagner Ribeiro. "There are many teams interested, but Lucas does not want to go, so it is no use.

"He wants to make history and stay in São Paulo, here in Brazil - so he will stay."
