I was at my first game at Anfield against Villa and it was pretty quiet. As usual or was it because we sucked?

Other than that the Anfield tour and the pubs before the game was great.

Liverpool as a city was better than I thought. Matthew street was insane (in perhaps not just good ways).

I'll be back!

In my limited experience. last Saturday was the worst atmosphere I have encountered at Anfield.
It was poor from before the match kicked off, so it wasn't just down to the game.

Why weren't you in the Harry,
You could have met all the odd balls from SCM.
I was there as well for a while too.😉

I saw oddballs everywhere and I thought I'd better stay quiet. Didn't know scm had so many members.

It's Mathew (i always get it wrong though as well).

I hate that most visitors to Liverpool see that during their first evening visit.

Changed beyond recognition. I had a season ticket 86-91 and the Kop was fierce most of the time. Chants for EVERY player before kick off. Every player had a nickname, songs were the norm, esp funny ones against the opposition players. The banter was hilarious (the rivers off piss down the Kop not sure much fun) Dr. Fun instead of that bell end with all the badges.
It's been getting steadily worse since all-seater stadia and cheap airfares. League games now are half full of tourists taking pics of Gerrard when he takes a corner, and the older people like me (44) who know what it was like are in the minority. Young, passionate working class guys cannot afford to go as much nowadays.
True, the poor performance of the team affects the crowd, but we used to lift the team, now we wait for the team to lift us.
'Where's your famous atmosphere' is a sad but true chant from the visiting fans, and it hurts horribly to have to agree they are right.
Mancs, Blueshite, Chavski in the Champion's League are the only games I've been at in the last few years that have felt like the proper Kop, whereas we used to be brilliant even at 3pm against Derby or whoever.
Sad times.

It was very quiet against Villa. I was standing in the middle of the kop and could here the Villa fans on the other side of the ground chanting "Where's your famous atmosphere?" well above anything we could muster. The funny thing was, when the odd chant did start up behind us, there were people around me singing to themselves, almost under their breath, like it was an uncontrollable affliction or something. It's like the inclination was there but the motivation was lacking. I guess several years of shite can dampen the spirit a little.

I think one of the worst atmospheres was on Boxing Day last years against Blackburn. Painfully flat and so quiet our forwards looked up and moved whenever someone shouted 'Get back onside ya great FOOL!' So I suppose it had its value.

Villa Saturday was one of the worst in a while, but I can't complain. I sat there laughing at how shit we were most of the game.

It's not even that good for the big games at the moment.

The problem is the Kop being nearly all season ticket since it went all seated. Lound and boisterous young men are now generally forty something dads.
There used to be a churn in the Kop and when you got too old and fartish , and fed up of standing for a few hours, you moved on to the stands, but the Kop is the stands so why move?

regards

Anyways Ossi, did one of your mates arrive late and was called Yom? Coz they're were a load of skandos behind me shouting YOM YOM YOM behind me when this dude appeared at 3.20 and I don't think they were on about the hotdogs.
