Or maybe he's done it as some sort of thanks to his hometown club for accepting such a late bid because it won't trigger any loyalty payments he'd be owed?

I assume we are going after Carroll because he fits the mold and he's in England allowing us to get a deal done more quickly. If we had time I would like to have seen us work on bettering our whole team and going after Young/Hazard plus a Lukaku/Benzema. However I understand the constraints we are working under and I although I wish we could hold onto Torres until the summer I think Suarez and Carroll have the attributes to make a fantastic partnership with the ability to trouble defenders in almost every single way; strength, directness, and Set Piece threat from Andy Carroll (who I spotted the year before they went down and quite likes 😛roud smiley) and technique, creativity and he also draws defenders into the channels. Both have the some impressive finishes on their resume. Plus the right footed number 7 and the left footed number 9 both have the tendency to cut in on there stronger foot means they won't take up the same place.

I'm still gutted about losing/the possibility of losing Torres (no real clue on where we are with any of this) but the club could benefit from it and its going in the right direction. Y'know Torres could never stay healthy and he couldn't back himself up in case of emergency. And he's not going to be happy staying in the premiership forever. He seems like the ambitious type to try and win a league in all the big 3 and time is ticking. He'll probably bum Chelsea too.

Does he have pace? I fear Carroll and Suarez will be too slow. While I was really excited about Suarez with Torres, I'm not so sure Carroll and Suarez will make a great partnership. Suarez is a busy player with a knack for scoring goals and would have worked well behind the pacy Torres. Not so much with Carroll.

Unless Carroll is quite quick. Is he?

They were stalling for time to arrange replacement striker by all account.s
