I hope the case is that we've only paid about £25mil and the rest is possible add ons. Then I'd feel much better about the whole thing.

Seems to be the consensus on 5live..

This will also make you feel better we will have saved 15 million in wages over 5 years compared to TorresGayface MK2

Chelsea gave us 50m in one instalment. That's influenced things a LOT.

Assuming Carroll stays on the same money all the time. Which won't happen if he does well. And if he doesn't do well enough to earn a payrise then he's probably going to be sold. So we lose.

Apparently a £35M bid was rejected.

Nope, matched & agreed, transfer request handed in did it.

They were stalling for time to arrange replacement striker by all account.s

I was just winding up Sunny!

I have an autobiography if anyone wants to buy it? It's called "Fernando Torres: El Nino", RRP £18.99.

Goes into great detail of how magnificent Liverpool and the fans are, and how wonderful Kenny Dalglish is. Contains lots of posing pictures looking at Liverpool greats.

Only read once, does have a whiff of shite though.

Any offers considered, I mean why the fuck would anyone want it? Might try the Chelsea forum, but it's 90% Liverpool...
Jeez, I'd gorgotten I had that book back home.

Makes me nauseous thinking about it.
I've only got Fowler, Gerrard and Carra's.. Glad I didn't jump onto Fernando's..

Planning on getting Kenny's when the 'updated' edition comes out about his return to Merseyside.. I had to stand in Waterstones and read the 'extra' few chapters added onto God's book about his second coming..
It's beig updated? 😱

HAVE to get it now.

I'd read the earlier one in the library, and it's by far the best I've read.

He reminds me of Edge out of the WWE

I think everyone needs to stop thinking about the money to start with.
We have done what big clubs do , its nice I like it, we identified a player that fits what we want, and on paper I think Suarez and Carroll are made for each other, and if Kenny thinks he is the right man who are we to argue, gone out there and done the fucking deal with no fucking about. Same with Adam apart from that daft initial offer. If anyone does not believe we are significantly stronger now than on Friday morning you need your bumps feeling by my calculations , if you want to talk money, with Babels money it has cost us £14m. Torres Great player on his day, but a whiney wingey one when it was not going for him, and made out of glass . Viva la revolution
We were so over-reliant on G and T as well.
Sell T and buy two 25 million strikers who are good enough is good footballing sense and good business
Speak for yourself. I can't stand the stuff.

I have to say I seem to be in the minority but I am wildy optimistic about a potential partnership of Suarez and Carroll.
I was saying how brilliant the Suarez/Carroll partnership could be, but it's now in the thread forever consigned to the twighlight zone.

It's a real pity we can't use him for the game on Sunday, that's going to be something else. I bet the viewing figures are massive for this one........Suarez, Torres et al.

Why can't we use him?

Losing Torres to Chelsea is a horrible blow, IMO. Sure he hasn't fire on all cylinders for the last few years and his attitude and injury problems were always a concern, but casting all that aside we had the best striker in the world playing for Liverpool Football Club at at a time when we so desperately needed him. The last big striker we lost was Michael Owen and it took us years to find someone to match his calibre. Obviously we've got a massive fee this time, which makes everything easier. but big signings aren't always guaranteed to work.

Suarez, as good as he looks, has only ever scored goals in Holland, in a league where Huntelaar, Kezman and Dirk Kuyt scored more than a goal a game. And Carroll has had 6 decent months in the Premier League. We didn't want to pay over 6M for Charlie Adam for the same reason. He's also beaten up women, gets in fights in nightclubs and is always out drinking. We're paying a profession price for someone who doesn't know the meaning of the word.

Selling Torres was something which needed to be done. No issue there. But spending so much money on Carroll at this point in time reeks of desperation.

I'm left not knowing what to make of all this, but what's certain is the rest of the season will be very interesting.

And whoever said the January transfer window was boring?

Suarez/carroll has the potential to be fantastic. I love little and large partnerships
