Aly Cissokho

He's improved leaps and bounds. I'd have him over Johnson atm (as in I wouldn't rush Johnson back)

Haha just cos we won 5-1 and all of a sudden he's a fairlyyyyy good player.

No he isn't. The 5-1 glossed over the many cracks he has. He is still a shithouse and in no way good enough for us.

I think some guys are drunk in euphoria. Can't blame you, as Cissokho did put in a much-improved performance today. Still, he has a shit load lot of work to do to convince me he's worthy of even getting another loan spell here, especially having made me shit my pants over the course of the season so far. He can start with repeating the level of performance he showed in the Gunners game for the rest of the season. It was a good performance by his standards today, but seriously, that was about what you'd see Enrique do in a average game.

He's much improved since around the Everton game. I honestly think we could now be seeing something closer to his natural level, after a period of settling (language, country, league, team) and obtaining a degree of match-fitness. He's never going to be a world beater, and at times he looks like Bambi on the ball, but he's quick, strong and knows how to defend. I'm glad he's in the squad to cover Enrique's injury, if not we could have been on another teenage kid, or recalling Wisdom and cutting short his valuable experience at Derby.

Is he good enough to stay? As a squad player, yes I think so, and he has potentially another 13 games to prove it.

I was expecting him to be good going forward but shite defensively.

He is the total opposite.

I'm not sure why people are saying he is good defensively. He constantly allows the winger get the cross in. I like my FB to stop the ball coming in.
I read an interview where one of our player said Ally was the quietest player in the team etc. Perhaps he suffers from a lack of confidence. He doesn't express himself on the ball anyway. He tries to get rid asap, even if it means kicking it aimlessly anywhere.

It's odd, he was highly rated and looked good for Porto and Lyon. He was very powerful going down the left. I wanted him here once and mentioned him in a LB thread yonks ago.

I think he's been playing quite well the last few games. If he continues I wouldn't perhaps hate it if he gets a contract.

I would. He's been better than he was originally, but that's a very low baseline to start from and I still don't think he's good enough.

Where does this bollocks come from that he's a shithouse? The first thing he did in the game was to put Oxlade Chamberlain in the stands. People just make their minds up about players and continuously post mindless junk about their performances. He had a good game. If you think he's shit then fair enough, but at least give credit where it's due, our defense has largely been very good over the last few weeks, he can't be that much of a "shithouse" passenger who can't kick a ball.

I'm all for credit where it's due, Mark, but I can't see a player good enough for LFC in him, especially now we're challenging at the top of the league.

He's jumped out of a few 50/50s, hence why he gets called a shithouse.

Agreed, we could pull a left back out of league 1 and he would have a few solid games for us, especially when our attack are bumming the life out of teams.

That's fair enough, people are being too judgmental about his individual performances though - it hasn't been terrible by any stretch over the last few weeks, he's done pretty well and two of those games saw us put 9 goals past two of the best sides in the league. Like I said in the other thread, the two more defensive minded and arguably less attack focused defenders have come in, we've still scored and created chances aplenty and we're defending better as a unit, that's all we can ask for now at least.

I think I've seen him do it once, maybe he has, I don't know, but I've seen him look pretty successful in most one on ones these last few games, I don't remember too much getting down his side.

Of course yeah, which is why we've consistently looked vulnerable on our right, with England's right back playing. So the logic doesn't really work does it?

Mark, calm your horses mate. We won 5-1. The mancs drew 2-2. Bluenoses lost. All in all, a GREAT weekend.

Now in regards to Aly, he's crap simply cos he is. I say it not based on yours or others opinions. I say it cos of all the games I've seen him play - he's simply not good enough. I don't care what others think. He's poo, so stop trying to change my mind. The only person who can change my mind is Aly himself and I sure hope he bloody does so too !

Was it against Everton were he won every tackle and header he attempted?
No one is claiming he's a world beater and he's probably not good enough to be a permanent back up after his loan spell either.
But, with Enrique rumoured to be out for the season, its only positive that Cissokho can contribute to our defence looking rather decent for the last 13 games.
