Alisson - New GK?

Liverpool have had a bid rejected for Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker, according to reports in Italy.

Roma have named their price for Alisson and have told Liverpool that he is for sale at £44m should they wish to sign the Brazilian international.

Jurgen Klopp and his staff have all privately agreed that Liverpool must bring in a new goalkeeper to improve the side, with Simon Mignolet set to depart as a result.

Napoli have set their sights on Simon Mignolet with the Belgian admitting that he is considering his future at Liverpool with the World Cup approaching and being down in the pecking order to Loris Karius.

Klopp has promoted Karius to number 1 and wants to give the German a chance to make his stake as the long term goalkeeper at Liverpool.

However, Klopp is keen to secure the services of Alisson now, which would pave way for Mignolet to leave in January and also cast doubt into Karius’ long term future at the club.

It is believed that Klopp is fed up with Mignolet and Karius’ persistent mistakes and wants a solution to the problem immediately. Alisson is his target.

Liverpool will push for a deal in January but will revisit the possibility in the summer if an agreement cannot be made now.

Jan Oblak is also a target for Liverpool and Klopp isn’t put off by the hefty £84.8m release-clause.

A few journos have said that this fella is on 'Klopp's list' of transfer targets so that's hardly surprising.

The same folks also said there's a top cb on that list.

Now if there's a DM or even a very capable midfielder tbh, on that list too (& we get him) I'd be very happy.

According to Don Balon, which is probably the Spanish version of The S*n when it comes to credibility in regards to football, Real will let Kroos leave this summer. And he’d like to link up with Klopp.

Now that would be boss. Unrealistic, but boss

Shame he didn't think about them last fucking summer

Or this window

Haven’t Utd been trying to sign him for years?

If he became available one of the top 3 would surely be his destination.

I got a random notification on my phone from a footy app, that we had a 44m bid knocked back.

No clue on legitimacy like

Throw whatever money it takes at them.

We badly need him. Or anyone not as shite as our two clowns.

Correct.

I'm praying to any deity who may exist, that we do some decent business before Wednesday

We need to improve in goal but the last bit above goes too far IMHO. No sense in paying through the nose for someone only marginally better than what we have.

I'm not sure this Allison dude is the answer. He's only been playing in Italy and that youtube is shit.

I actually think Achterberg gets an unfair rep here. Mignolet's problem is not that he is badly coached – actually you can see that many of the problems of his first few years in Liverpool have been gradually ironed out; he's mostly OK with his feet now, comes out for crosses when he's supposed to etc. He's just not at the level of talent of De Gea and Courtois and no amount of coaching will change that.

I agree. I used to be one of the worst to moan about Achterberg, but everything I've heard suggests he's probably the most conscientious coach at the club, he spends days scrutinising video analyses of games, he tries just about every conceivable technique to improve his players, and they just don't improve enough.

If we bring in a renowned goalie and he turns to shit, I think that will give the definitive answer about Achterberg, and the fact that hard work doesn’t pay off for those with no talent.

Liverpool want to sign Roma goalkeeper Alisson ahead of the summer window
Liverpool are trying to sign Roma goalkeeper Alisson ahead of the summer, Sky Sports News understands.
Sky sources in Italy have said discussions are underway and at a very early stage via an Italian intermediary.
They also say Liverpool made an inquiry into signing the 26-year-old during the January transfer window and the club hope to persuade Roma to sell the player in the coming weeks.

However, it is understood Roma believe Alisson s one of the best in his position in Europe and value him at £62million (€70m) - potentially a world-record price for a goalkeeper.

Alisson joined Roma from Brazilian side Internacional in 2016
It was also reported in Italy last week that they have been trying to get him to sign a new contract, with the anticipation of more interest from some of Europe's top clubs in the summer.

Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are just two top teams expected to be in the market for goalkeepers, so Liverpool are attempting to beat potential competition.
Alisson - a Brazil international with 22 caps - is understood to be the Merseyside club's top target among five goalkeepers they are interested in from across Europe.

Loris Karius has established himself as Liverpool's number one in recent weeks
He is highly rated in the Italian capital and was recently described by his goalkeeper coach as the "Messi of goalkeepers".
"This guy is a phenomenon. He is the number one of number ones," Roberto Negrisolo was quoted by Il Romanista.
Current Liverpool keeper Simon Mignolet appears to have lost his place to Loris Karius in recent weeks, with the latter starting in the 5-0 Champions League win at Porto on Tuesday.
Sky Sports football expert Jamie Carragher urged the Reds to sign a world-class player between the sticks after Mignolet made several errors in December.

Imagine spending 100m on another pile of shit.
Exactly - for us Liverpool to spend more than 10M on a goalkeeper is a risk because you just know - one fucking mistake and we the supporters could ruin him. We don't give goalkeepers an inch to make any mistakes and we compound the situation. I have noticed that once the fans at this club go against the goalkeeper the pundits just follow suit and start giving it on every TV channel. No other club in English football heavily criticise their goalkeeper like we do - its like a fucking past-time. Honestly we could make a very good goalkeeper turn to shit.

That’s when you need a goalkeeper with balls to not give a fuck.

Monchi said he regrets selling Salah so cheaply to us, so I think if we buy another Roma player any time soon they’ll try to make us pay more to sort of compensate. Just imagine how much Salah is worth now.
