Alisson - New GK?

Being a good shot stopper is obviously extremely important, but what about personality, decisiveness, communication with his defensive unit?

Yeah but expected goals are as much an indicator of luck as anything else.
You would need more than that to judge a player

I think De Gea's repeated phenomenal stats on that score indicate more than luck is at play. But on the latter point, absolutely.

Reading this:

http://www.goal.com/brasilglobaltou...rs-alisson-ederson-and-weverton-all-vying-for
Goalkeepers Alisson, Ederson and Weverton all vying for Brazil role

A perceived lack of speed off his line, inaccuracy with his kicking, and issues with deep crosses into his box are the main criticisms levelled at Alisson, though few would guarantee Ederson ticks all those boxes and more.

Also watching his YT compilation, I'm unconvinced he's the solution. A lot of flapping and he does look slow off his line.

Oblak, on the other hand, looks superb.

I've been watching a lot of youtube on Alisson and he looks no better than mignolet tbh. For a brazilian his kicking is pretty shit and seems to like to stay on his line a lot.

Yeah that’s the bit that worries me most. Thought the same could be said of De Gea.

This guy

(I'm not even kidding )

He looks like the love child of Richard Ayoade and Richard Osman.

Who has actually watched this guy? Brazil has never been famed for its keepers. Obviously anyone is likely to be an improvement on the status quo but I’d like a boss keeper rather than a lesser of three evils.
I actually think Doni was the best keeper we've had since Reina (hardly a brilliant accolade), it's criminal he got shifted out for no real reason.

No idea about this guy but the fact we are looking at keepers in encouraging. Karius is one of the few Klopp signings you would say he got totally wrong, weve needed a new no1 keeper since before Klopp got here.

I really don't get what we saw in him. He's not a great shot stopper, he's permanently rooted to his line, he's not really anything particularly special with the ball at his feet, as a sweeper keeper (as you'd think this system would demand). And maybe it's just me, but his attitude irritates the fuck out of me. He always looked cocky and arrogant as fuck, something you have to have the quality to back up.

That might have been the case to begin with. Nowadays, at least to me, he looks a nervous wreck.

Either way, he's irritating and needs to go.

The best solution for all would be a loan.

Apparently Liverpool are close to announcing the signing of Alisson from Roma.

Early negotiations, SC International (Brazil) will take a cut of the deal

Anyone know anything about him?
Since when do "close to announcing" and "Entered into early negotiations" for a player go hand in hand?

More likely exchange:
Is Allison avaiable?
Yes - at a price.. It will cost ye!
How much?
..... Ten Billion Dollars.
Errr how about 5 + Mignolet?

Roma??...Roma??.. Are you still there??

Just tell the press we are in Early negotiations Freddie.

He's one of the best keepers in Serie A at the moment.

I've watch quite a few of Roma's games but not enough to pass judgement because in the games I have watched they won easily.

Would be interesting to see the price tag Roma put on him.

But I think we should wait until the end of the season in regards to bringing in a new keeper - I'd give Keylor Navas some serious thought.

Madrid are bound to make one final play for Courtois/De Gea - and if they fail, they will go to 3rd option Kepa (Bilbao) which will force Navas out.

Solid shot stopper, good on the ball, physically commanding, big game experience - ticks all the boxes and could be available at a bargain price as he is 31.

I think it will be most likely this guy rather than Oblak that we see coming in during the summer.
I'd like to think that we at least have sounded out Oblak about the prospect of joining us

But that's not based on judgement, that's default status.
True. But when i'm seeing him making some really dodgy saves and his kicking not looking that good (especially for a brazilian) then my default status has no reason to change. I didn't even get a semi while watching unlike Oblak who had it twitching.

Watched this guy in action this morning v Inter Milan, game finished 1-1 and he’s the reason Roma didn’t lose.

Made save after save after save!

He’s very quick and has cat like reflexes, he looks confident in goal and judges the situations well.

I’ve seen him play previously but not too much, after seeing him this morning, i’d be more than happy for us to buy him - he’d be a massive upgrade.

The goal he conceded was from a close range header.

Also, looks very comfortable on the ball, doesn’t panic like Mignolet and Karius when put under pressure.

Roma’s goal came from the ball being played back to Alisson, him taking a touch, belting it over the top of the Inter defenders and put El Sharawy through on goal. Didn’t get counted as his assist as the ball ‘skimmed’ off the Inter defender, but that goal was all him.
