Alan Hanson on MOTD and Barnes on a coach to Southampton

Indeed.

Incidentally Lawrenson's not on as much these days, just at a time when we're looking genuine title challengers. Coincidence?

John Barnes is the only member of the large ex-Liverpool contingent in the media who stuck up for Suarez over the so-called "racist language" incident.

The others, including Jocky and Lawro all said that the club had "handled it badly." Whereas in fact the club handled it exactly right.

That's why Suarez is still playing for us.

"Playing for us" hardly describes his contribution to Liverpool FC!
I'm so happy the King and then BR stood by him during those bad times.

King Kenny getting the sack for Suarez staying was worth it. He always sacrificed himself for Liverpool and thats why there's no bigger legend at the club.

I could almost guarantee you he talked into that microphone the entire journey.

Fuck, does he like to talk 🙂

I think the reason he got sacked was more to do with the teams poor performances...

Lawrenson got taken down a peg or two by the producers. He was acting like a cunt to everyone in the office and was told to accept a reduced role, calm down the sarcasm and stop being such a prick, or leave. He's doing more on Five Live I believe.

Thanks for that. The guy really is an @rsehole of the first magnitude. Judging by the way the two interacted when Lawrenson was on more often, my guess is Jocky didn't bust a gut to try and prevent this happening.

The producer has now been ordered (by the new female channel controller) to 'find a woman' to be a regular on MOTD.

A woman on MOTD.... Dearie me.

What next.... a black man captaining England or homosexual German midfielders playing for Everton.

The guy in charge of radio comedy at the BBC has recently announced that there will in future be equal numbers of men and women on radio panel games. That doesn't particularly bother me, because at the moment, most of the men are more like left-wing political agitators than comedians. Take Jeremy Hardy, for example - on "The News Quiz" he frequently indulges in rants against the Tories that don't seem intended to be funny.

Quite. I do have my reservations about the idea though, based mainly on the fact that (if programmes like "Mock the Week" are anything to go by) a large number of the available comediennes don't seem to be funny even though they *do* intend it.
