Adam Lallana

You know, we're going to have to buy this bloke to see if he's any good for us.

Crystal ball won't tell you. Past performance is no guarantee of future results as the financial blurb says.

John Henry's will have to be getting the selling clubs sort code and bank account number for the transfer and then hope his manager knows what he's doing.

It's only a risky signing if you haven't seen him play.

Watch him at the World Cup sure. He'll be the one being outstanding.

It's only risky because of the price. Practically everyone who has said we'd get dragged into a drawn out, inflated bidding war, has said that he's a very good player, it's whether he's worth the prices being discussed. On the back of a short spell at the top end of the game, he isn't. He might well be worth the risk, but it's a risk nonetheless.

I don't why you have to act like you're the only person to have actually watched these players, I really like him, as others have said, they do too.

Loads of people on here have said they haven't seen him play Mark, and given my record of judging players is better than most people on here I'm happy to put forward that I think this kid's the shit. I don't really give a fuck if that doesn't meet your preferred positing criteria.

And while we're on the subject - you seem to be getting into a helluva lot of arguments with people on here these days Mark. Maybe the problem isn't everyone else?

Glass houses?

I called bullshit on Rodgers tiki taka style ages ago, when all the nobs on here were fawning over it. Once he was shown the statistical light we became better

And then you fucked off for 6 months while we went top of the league by dicking every single side that came our way.

And now you're back after we've had our first bad result in 3 months.

I can't understand why nobody listened to you harder Ross.

I was gone for four weeks, and back before the result.

And have consistently said Rodgers doesn't deserve any.blame, so unfortunately you're miles off as usual.

Are we sure this guy is the age he says he is? I googled him and he looks pretty fucking old.

Sorry Ross I must have got confused by that comment and your other one about how managers and tactics are meaningless.

What you're confused about is why 99% of managers are of no value, and why over the course of a season tactics aren't important.

If Rodgers performs as he did this season, we'll be worse because most of reasons for our position aren't in his control

No I'm confused by your continued assertion that managers and tactics are irrelevant, meaningless, and a figment of deluded supporters imagination because the fucking reality of the Premier League table shows me Liverpool on top and Manchester United in 7th - less that 12 months after those positions were completely reversed. With the only variable at both those clubs being the manager and the tactics.

Riddle me that.

Shevchenko, Carol, torres to Chelsea, lamela, veron, soldado etc etc and possibly even Ozil to some degree...
Adam is a great player, and while I'm not keen on spending a bomb on him, no big signing is a guarantee of success.

I like Lallana, i think he's a quality footballer. But i just don't see him being worth £25m. If it was £15m i'd say yeah but not for that price that's just too high. Since coutinho was sold to us i've been keeping an eye on his replacement kovacic, and he seems to have a lot more to his game, cheaper price and is 6 years younger than Lallana. Plus what i like about him is his versatility. He can play as a regista, wide left, wide right or as an attacking midfielder.

I love a good Ross and Ryan row.

Don't know what Mark and Peter are at though. Ye seem to be wasting ye'r energy on a hypothetical inflated transfer fee for Rio Ferdinand or something.

Back to Lallana, I want him. Bookies have us favourites to sign him. Means nothing I know.

We should have gone for the song. Let's have another go

S: Okay, let's try this: 'His name is Adam, Adam Lallana/The hottest spot north of Havana-'
L: Can we do the Banana Splits one?
S: No, it's way too jejune. I'm considering this: 'La...LaLa...Lalallana, Lalallana-'
L: Hey Jude? Hey Jude? Hey Jejune, more like! The nerve of it!
S: You tire me with your carping. This is to the tune of 'Barcelona': 'Adam Lallana!/It was the first time that we met/Adam Lallana!/How can I forget-'
L: I find that jejune AND laboured.
S: I'm rising above it. Check this one out: 'If you like Adam Lallana/and getting caught in the rain/ If you're not into yoga/If you have half a brain/If you like making love at midnight-'
L: What the HECK are you on about???
S: Here's a thought: why don't you go home?

S'not really a row though is it? We love each other enough not to row.

Plus, he's getting fucking shoe'd in this one and he knows it.

That's why I love the tete a tetes' between ye. It's not malicious. A simple game of one-upmanship.

With who? Peter? Read the initial, unwarranted obnoxious response.

If you think that's an unprovoked and unpleasant reply you should go back and read your own bizarre diatribe against me for making a perfectly reasonable post about Chelsea playing a weakened team.

Maybe then you'll have more of an idea why I'm much less inclined to overlook your usual nonsense these days.

That wasn't a shot at you at all. I meant in general, sorry you misunderstood. On this board, I mainly trust @dmishra @rurikbird and @King Binny and their opinions on players. What I generally find is that the international posters on this board have a tendency to have a broader view of the game, whereas the more local posters have an emphasis on signing known entities.

It looks like you missed the part where I said that Lallana has grown on me as a potential signing of late.

I've never played Football Manager before. I probably should though.

Southampton mostly are very average players. That's been more visible in the last few months, as they've been dropping points in key situations instead of pushing for Europa.

Honestly though, I haven't seen much of Firmino. But what I have seen makes me think he would be a much smarter purchase than Lallana if they are valued similarly.

Fair enough, you are right about the more known entities, i have no interest in watching a Bremen v Hoffenheim match like others or playing Football Manager and pretending to know shit because of that game.

You talk sense most of the time but the Southampton all very average players thing really is bizarre, i do notice a back track now as its 'mostly' and not 'all players'.
