Barnsley manager Mark Robins hailed Adam Hammill as the midfielder's solitary goal guided his team to a 1-0 victory against Portsmouth.
Hammill - who has been linked with a move to the Premier League - was at the heart of every Tykes move and the former Liverpool man netted the winner in the 13th minute.
The 22-year-old took his goal with aplomb and the playmaker was only denied more by a superb individual display from Pompey keeper Jamie Ashdown.
Robins was quick to praise Hammill as his team recorded a third consecutive win.
He said: "I thought Adam Hammill's goal was a great goal.
"He started the move off, got the ball played back to him and he tied himself up and smashed it in.
"He had a couple of other efforts. He's a talent and at the moment he's on fire.
"He's adding things to his game all the time - hopefully he will stay with us until he's ready to go somewhere else."
Barnsley ace Adam Hammill insists he is in no rush to make the move to the Premier League.
The in-form winger is being chased by a host of Premier League clubs after catching the eye at Oakwell this season.
The former Liverpool youngster impressed his suitors with the winning goal against Portsmouth on Saturday and Barnsley are bracing themselves for bids for Hammill in the January transfer window.
The 22-year-old admits it is his ambition to play in the Premier League, but he is happy to bide his time as he continues to learn his trade.
"I just take each game as it comes," said Hammill.
"I'm enjoying my football and looking forward to the next match. The main aim is to play well and score goals.
"To play in the Premier League is an ambition I've always had.
"For every young lad to reach the highest level is the ambition.
"But there's no rushing - it has to be the right time. I'm learning my trade at Barnsley. Whatever happens, I'm enjoying myself here."
Barnsley boss Mark Robins hopes to retain star midfielder Adam Hammill for the time being at least.
The 22-year-old has been in sparkling form for the Tykes this season, hitting a number of spectacular long-range goals while cutting in from his wing position.
Hammill's performances have not gone unnoticed by Premier League teams and Everton are supposedly lining up a £2million bid which would represent good business for the South Yorkshire club, who bought him from Liverpool for an undisclosed six-figure fee in the summer of 2009.
However Robins is hoping Hammill remains at Oakwell for at least the short-term.
He said: "Hopefully, he will stay with us until he is ready to go somewhere worthy of his talent."
