2-0 Labour now..but not looking good, these are very safe Labour seats and the swings are pretty large.
[/quote]

Well, Labour clearly aren't going to top the poll. But I wouldn't read too much into swings in safe Labour seats: those are precisely the places where people are likely not to vote or to vote in protest against Labour's myriad faults in government. In more marginal seats, when such behaviour might let the Conservatives in, people won't necessarily act in the same way.

Without coming across as a spaz, i dont really get the 'swing' thing?

Labour are 2-0 up at the mo, but people are going on about a massive swing to the Tories, in these seats, but does this actually affect anything in the big scheme of this, or are they just pointing out, that although Labour are winning the seats, they are winning them by less??

The swing doesn't affect anything unless it is copied throughout the country. If the swing from Labour to Conservative continues right across the country at the current 9.9% then Conservative will win a majority.

Sunderland Central: Labour Hold

3-0

HAHA Quality.
people in the back singing 'Who are ya' and Threeeee nil. Thats Sunderland Central

So if this pattern continues, i.e. Labour winning the seats, but Tories getting a higher percentage, the Tories will win?

Swing is based on results last time. So they keep talking about swings so even though Lab won its less than they won by last time.

The seats Labour have won upto now have been very safe seats in traditional Labour areas. Watch out for the Labour seats with smaller majorities, if they go to the Conservatives, then yes, the Tories could win.

The early results always favour Labour because they're mostly city centres. If Labour 'keep winning seats', they'll win the election. But they won't keep winning seats.

Yeah i get the concept that the people with the most votes in each place win that particular seat!! 😛 im not that much of a spaz, its just that the coverage was going on about the 'swing' like it was going to affect something bigger - i know what i mean, but im not explaining it very well.

I get that obvioulsy a swing at this percentage in other areas, will lead to the Tories winning those particular seats.

Also, out of curiosity have any celeb type figures said they will leave the county should Cons win or Lab stay in?
I seem to remember a few saying they would leave the country last time.

Gary Barlow and Frank Lampard are Conservatives.

Make of that what you will.

More issues about people not being able to vote.
Some places not have enough ballot papers, flipping heck how crap.

Cara..they trying to keep it interesting by banging on about the swing. Also they try to use it as an indicator, it's why they keep talking about it.

It's unbelievable, isn't it. Some places staying open until 10.10pm, some letting people in to the polling station and locking the doors (which is what they should have all done), running out of ballot papers...

Madness.

Liverpool Wavertree I believe.

The polling station near me was about 14ft by 12ft & staffed by two retards who barely looked up from their texting on their phones as they pass the papers out. There was also a bin placed outside plastered in a party's posters, which either thought wasnt allowed.

Yeah i think thats the best thing!!

I think i had a Eureka moment when i was typing my last response! And tried to get out of looking a div!! Whoops!!

I get it now!

I know why the swing is significant!

On another note, friends facebook status; 'if David Cameron gets a large swing, can i have a big slide?' made me chuckle!

That listing thing had happened repeatedly at the little polling station by me, the retard manning it was telling a lady in front of me it had happened all day, polling cards, but not on their list so couldnt vote.
