Another test for Slot.

We need all of our players to get through this international break back unscathed.

Slot needs to rotate the team. Jota and Harvey could be eased in against Southampton hopefully. Ali too. Don't think he'll rotate keepers.

Something iffy is going on with Chiesa so I have a feeling that we'll hear more excuses about why he isn't playing over the next few weeks, until he's loaned out in Jan, never to return.

How many wins / points do you realistically see us getting?

Madrid, City, Newcastle and blueshite are all that matters. Win those 4 and don’t bother playing a first teamer for the other 2.

TBH No idea because I have no idea what Slot is going to do re. rotation, if anything.

Rotation predictions :
Southampton 2-3 players W
Madrid full strength W
City full strength W
Newcastle 1-2 players L
Everton 2-3 players W
Girona, if we beat Madrid 2-3 players if we didn't then full strength. D

I think we’ll rotate the South Americans against Saints and heavy rotate Girona or the EFL cup game 2 after that.

However i think a lot of players will start every one.

I expect Robbo to get a rest for Madrid in order to be fresh for City, maybe Diaz too. But let’s see.

The last game will be immaterial in that last. It’s all about managing the 5 in 14 days which is manageable with rotation.

Would be delicious to pump Madrid and leave them languishing.

Didn’t Slot say Jota will be ready “a couple of weeks” after the end of the international break? I doubt Elliott will be anywhere near ready to start vs Southampton too.

That's just hopium from me...

Yeah, most likely Slot will have to rest the South Americans vs Saints without getting any injury returnees back just yet. Maybe Elliott can play a few minutes at the end at best.

This scheduling is a load of BS. In 3 months of club footy, we had 6 weeks on Int footy and then whole load of games squeezed into the rest plus possible games post Christmas bonanza with a break thrown in. Then there Is refs like Coote is running amok coked up, brilliant…

Agreed. I think players from South America should be limited to two trips transatlantic a year. They’ve already done six 15 hour flights and we’re 11 games into the PL.

International football sucks. No one cares about any single fixture that has currently been played. Fuck off the nations league.

After this week there is no international footy til March, so keeping players fit and managing minutes will be totally in our control.

I actually feel quite confident of our rotation options given Slot is now trusting players like Jones & Tsimi to start. I think Elliot & Jota back will really help protect the attackers. Konate is probably the other risk of overplaying, and would be someone I’d rest against Saints.

Are you telling me you weren't looking forward to Gibraltar-San Marino yesterday? I tuned in for a few minutes and it was the best co-ed rec league match I've ever seen, down to the zero spectators

It may be the time to explain to Arne he does’nt need to play his strongest XI every game. It’s not mandatory
I agree ... but then what do we know, just look at his record ! And isn't he (and his med team) renown for tracking players stats and resting them at the slightest downturn? Or did I just make that up ?!
