Wimbledon 2013

Dunno if I've missed it as on my phone, but can't see a thread yet.

Nadal out yesterday, his movement was definitely compromised by his knee, but nevertheless a big shock at this stage, especially after the french open win.

Djokovic looks comfortable against mayer here, expect him to be through in the next half an hour 3 straight sets.

The three mens favourites have to Djokovic, Murray & Federer. Probably in that order, but it feels unfair to Federer to put him third, simply cos he seems to live to play on these courts.

I fucking love Wimbledon, & I'd love Murray to win it just to prove the dickheads who think he's a let down simply cos he hasn't won it wrong. He's a phenomenal tennis player & deserves to be treated as such.

Didn't see any of the games but I liked Nadals interview - refused to talk about is knee but congratulated his opponent

It was very sporting, he handled it perfectly.

The journo's were complete disks though, three times he explained why he wouldn't talk about his knee as it would be an excuse when the important thing was his opponent won. Then yet another question about his knee followed, you could hear him get angry but he managed to simply sound incredulous as opposed to fucking angry.

Djokovic's only real challenge to the final will be Berdych in the quarters so it's almost a cert that it will be a Djokovic/Murray or Djockovic/Federer final.
If it's a five setter between Fed and Murray in the semis the advantage will almost be certainly Djokovic's.

The women's look an absolute cake walk for Serena but I've put a small few quid on Sloane Stephens at 70-1 who's a rising star in the game and Sabine Lisicki at 60-1 whom plays the grass courts as good as anyone on her day but fully expecting Serena to win it.

Feds out..

Murray wont ever get a better shot at winning wimbledon than this.. They are all dropping out like flies..

That Serbian chap. What's his name again? You know, that bloke who's the number one 1 in the world?

Sam Smith Former British number one :

"Players these days are more reliant than ever before on traction, especially on hard courts.
"You need to be much gentler and lighter on grass and skip over the surface. You can't be so dependent on pushing off. I think the players are trying to do the same things they do on a hard court and they can't do that on grass.
"Because the bounce is higher these days some of them think, "I'm going to play this like a hard court," and I'm just not sure you can move like that.
"Grass makes you move in a different way to clay and players use completely different muscles and a different technique."

Perhaps it has always been this way but i feel more and more of the players these days don't like the grass courts . I suppose there is some logic in that the grass season is very short so why put so much effort into it but it's a pity , i still personally hold wimbledon as the top grand slam . And i wish there was just a little bit more old school serve and volleying .

The Murray love-in on Sky and Bbc is vomit inducing.
Nothing against Murray per say but I hope it ends in tears.

i was just watching some highlights of larcher de brito and sharapova . the amount of 'grunting' going on is ridiculous , the neighbours must think i'm watching some weird porno .

Not a racist.

2 quarter finalists and Serena gone.
Cmon my babies

Surely now is the time to sell those bets to guarantee a profit?

I've layed Lisicki at 3.75 but going to let the Stephens bet ride.
Small profit made already but if either girl win I make a very nice sum especially on Stephens.

I like watching Lisicki and Stephens, nice to watch a game where none of them are screaming after each shit

wonder why the stadium is only half full for murray-verdasco . would have thought it would be packed. corporates not bothered using their tickets ?

Ha ha! Murray getting schooled! Take that you 'anyone but England' fuzzy haired bellend.

I've got £5 each way on Lisicki to win Wimbledon at 22/1.

I had a feeling she was going to beat Williams. Lisicki gives me feelings, especially when she is hot and sweaty.

Verdasco is a renowned choker and mentally fragile so I knew at 2-0 it was far from over.
That was an extremely poor match from Murray given his high standards.
The defensive shots were executed perfectly but his forehand and backhand cross-court was miles of his usual best.
He will have to improve it ten-fold to win the tournament.
Janowicz in the semis is a big serving monster who would cause problems for most players in the world but I expect Murray to win this quite easily providing his defensive and returning play is up to his usual standards.
On current form I really can't see him beating Djokovic though.
