Youth / Reserve Team Thread... 2010 - 2013

Keeper probably should have done better but nice finish all the same.

4-1 FT. Unbeaten so far this season. Excellent stuff. Much more coherent in playing pattern than the first team, a sign that Rodgers will soon have more good young players to slot into the team.

A lot of people saying that will be his last appearance for the club. Bit of a shame really, but can't help but wonder if there's more than just a lack of ability stopping him getting games in the first team.

I think that came about because of a tweet he wrote saying 'last game' but meaning last game before the break. I hope that's it anyway!

Did he do anything while he was at rayo vallecano?

It seems mad that hes so good at reserve level yet is continually overlooked

It's amazing in the circumstances that his attitude has remained so good. He's practically taken over from Reina as the squad's top cheerer-upper.

Yeah, his attitude looks really great. Unfortunately, I think he hasn't made the best use of his chances / breaks with the senior team. He's been great at Reserve level but only average at senior level. He needed to seize the chances given to him this season such that he made people sit up and say, "Hey we should play him more!" but most of the time it turned out just meh.

I know Downing and Cole are shit, and I too wish Pacheco was given more chances than those two. He had 3 starts and a sub appearance, and to be honest, when he's played, I've not really noticed too much difference in terms of the overall contribution. All I can really remember is some good play in the second half against WBA in the League Cup.

I think the ship has sailed for him; that Sterling and Suso are ahead of him is a pretty clear indication of where his future lies. He seemed to have a good loan spell at Norwich and the fans seemed to like him; so maybe he'll end up at Norwich on a permanent transfer if Hughton has funds and would like to take him under his wing again.

He and Suso, playing where they play, are tricky players to bed into the team. Suso has been more effective, clearly, but he, too, has sometimes been left looking peripheral. Pacheco has tended to be sent on to stick to the left wing, whereas I think his best position is behind the striker. But I agree he hasn't seized his chance, but he's worth more chances because his quality, vision and technique makes him such an interesting and unusual prospect.
