Keep everyone except
Carroll, Spearing, Skrtel, Flanagan, Robinson = 25m
Add that to the 25m we should get for budget.
Sign:
Mascherano - 10m
Hummells - 15m
Xaquiri - 15m
McManaman - 5 to 10m
Ince - free

Reina
Enrique
Agger
Hummells
Johnson

Mascherano
Lucas
Gerrard

Suarez
Sturridge
Coutinho

Bench:
Jones
Kelly
Coates
Henderson
Downing/Ince/Mcmanaman
Borini
Xaquiri

Thanks for listening

Get rid-
Carroll, Spearing, Flanagan, Downing (only if a decent offer comes in, if an offer is small too small he's worth holding on to as a squaddie), Pacheco (is he still contracted to us?), Robinson.

Loan until Xmas to Premiership or decent championship club for Ibe, Suso, Yesil and Coates.

Bring in
centre back (Hummels or Popodopalus, who I don't know anything about, but seems to be rated on here, basically not Ashley fucking Williams)
Tiago Ilori (loan him back for a season with a recall clause, haven't ever seen him, but I love me some internet rumours and hype)
A full back to compete with Johnson and Enrique. Don't mind if it's a RB, Johnson can play left back.
Defensive midfielder (Wanyama or Diame would do nicely).

Shaqiri was a great shout from Andy. He doesn't seem to get much of a look in at bayern (which is understandable given that they are fucking awesome), so him to bolster our attacking options.

Other than money for the first team in the areas that have been talked about - I want us to continue to have a decent budget set aside - and for us to act early - to nab U-16s or U-18s (even U-21s) with great potential, i.e. the Ibes, Sterlings, Sinclairs, Ojos, Yesils, Joneses, etc. I think McParland has mentioned that we'll be easing up on increasing numbers in the Academy and will focus more on getting quality guys in - I hope we'll be able to open the wallets to support him.

I've read that we paid something between 1m to 2m to take Ojo, and Yesil cost us about 1m; as did Teixeira. Not all of the guys we bring in will succeed - some will bomb out, but small investments like these early on can have pretty decent returns in a few years' time.

I agree, we need to keep on doing it. I can't really think of one of those signings (Sterling, Shelvey, Ibe, Ojo, Sinclair, Teixeira, Yesil, Trickett-Smith) who looks like a poor investment right now. Perhaps O'Hanlon, who seems to have been a bit underwhelming.

But hopefully we will, just more focused on quality than quantity. Sergi Canos is a good start this summer.

In which part of the real world will Mascherano leave for 10 and Hummels for 15 mate? 😉
You'd probably need to double it.

Only 13 starts in the Bundesliga.
And they have Gotze and Lewandowski coming in.

He'd be a good pick up ... But I don't think we should put money into signing McManaman - we should leave that 'spot' to Ibe and Sterling (& Suso if he doesn't go on loan).

Mascherano - too much money, there has to be another good DM.
Hummels - Barca bound.

I haven't watched much football this year aside from Liverpool so I don't know who we should sign.

  • I'm for keeping Skrtel so long as he's happy to stay. He was excellent last year and if we can get him to produce that level of performances again then it will have saved cash and time. We shouldn't write players off after one poor year, IMO.
  • Coates should be sold with Wisdom taking his place, providing competition for the CB spots
  • One CB needs to be bought in to replace Carragher. He should be experienced, strong in the air and a man with leadership and organisational qualities. Preferably aged between 23-26
  • LB needs competition but I think that can wait until a later date.
  • We need a goal-scoring, preferably right sided player. I've said it many times, but Downing should not be a first choice attacking player for a club with our ambitions. With Sterling and Ibe in reserve we appear to be sorted for the future. Therefore we should sell Downing and reinvest in a better player.
  • Next a DM is required. We need someone athletic, strong, tall and an excellent tackler.
  • Carroll needs to be sold.
Realistically I think that can be achieved with a fairly modest net spend.

Of the players I've seen this season, these are the ones I'll add to my shortlist.

Potential bargains: Juan Cuadrado (Udinese, on loan at Fiorentina), Kevin Volland (Hoffenheim), Florian Thauvin (Bastia), Leo Baptistao (Vallecano), Geoffrey Kondogbia (Sevilla)

Baptistao looks like going to Atletico Madrid though.

Costlier targets: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (St. Etienne), Erik Lamela (Roma), Adem Ljajic (Fiorentina), Alvaro Negredo (Sevilla)

Undecided on defensive options though.

No he wouldnt be a good 'Pick up'
Hed be a good signing.

What is all of this about McManaman? The fact alone that he will be priced 2-3x more than he should simply because he's English should automatically take him out of the discussion.

i'd spend 60% of our budget on two classy attacking players, 30 % on a defender and 10% on an up and coming central midffielder.

I think agbonlahor could be a shrewd and relatively cheap signing - he seems to have stagnated at Villa. still young. Pace, goals and plays across the front three - 10m max and he could be a bargain.

last time i checked, shut up meant shut the fuck up.
what's your problem? it's a forum, i'm expressing a view, if you don't like it, ignore. I don't really appreciate the tone of your posts and I'm slightly disappointed in my self for having a non-entity annoy me when scm is supposed allow me to unwind. seriously, chillax.

seriously shut up.

It's his thing. Like it's my thing to wind people up. Doesn't necessary make it personal.

Imagine what it's like to really want this summer to culminate in us signing
I'dbonkawhore.

Just try to recreate the worldview that could foster that perversion. Picture, if you will, the furniture of his mind. The hammocks full of cabbage, the colorful combs and brushes, Princess Diana's cadaver.
