I don't know , Meireles has been bugging me the last few weeks, even with his goals . I just don't see him as a long term offensive player. I mean his whole career for portugal and porto he played as a defensive midfielder , he joins us ,we find out he can't tackle and now he is playing alot as an attacking midfielder. He doesn't seem to be one thing or the other and it's all a bit up in the air on where best to play him .

Actually what really annoys me is that we don't seem to be able to play a 4-4-2 with 2 central midfielders . It seems none of the combos involving Gerrard, Lucas or Meireles work and we always need all 3 together to function. It's a pain as it means we can't really play with 2 up front and two out wide to stretch teams. Ok at the moment it doesn't matter as we have about as much pace as you'd find in a dead turtle race but in future i would like to see us being able to play with width and get some crosses in , i presumed it was part of the plan when carroll was bought but i have no idea now .

why do you want johnson sold. if johnson didn't play yesterday then I don't think there would have been a single player on the pitch capable of bringing the ball forwards at pace on the pitch.

we need 4 or five players. none of those players should be to pad out the squad, squad depth should be acheived by former 1st teamers getting pushed down the pecking order.
also some of our more talented reserves should be promoted to the bench.
