Pepe
Kelly Hummels Agger Magic

Carroll

Subs: Gulacsi, Taiwo, Carra, Adam, Lucas, Marveaux, Kuyt

The new signing don't need to be exactly as above but CB, CM and winger are the most pressing needs.

Why's everyone dropping Ming? He's been ace this season.

Lucas, Kuyt, Skrtel and Maxi are the ones we urgently need to push out of the starting XI.

Lloris

Kelly - Carra - Subotic - Enriqué

Gerrard - M'Vila - Ming

Muller - Carroll - Suarez

Sell Reina and Magic for 40m+ and use the money to buy serious quality.
Much as I'd love to have him, Bunny, I can't think of a single reason why Muller would consider coming here. Seems a tad unrealistic don't you think?

Also, for all those putting Raul in a DM role - why would we play someone who's attributes are a refusal to put the foot in at DM? Add to this his main attribute is creativity in the final third and it becomes even harder to understand. You'd be better off sticking with Lucas.

We should open a German pub, tell him he can go drinking with Carroll once a week.

Seriously? Yes, it probably is unrealistic. But he's very young and fulfils exactly the role we need in that wide forward position: is fast, is intelligent, creates chances and scores loads of goals. I'm not totally convinced by the likes of Young, Sanchez or Hazard in those terms.

Carragher doesn't need to be defended on 6CM. It's not one of those sites.

I think he'll start to play less games next season, and although he'll still feature more than Agger, we do need to start looking towards the future.
OK but looking at people's lineups the majority have replaced him which surprises me as it sort of indicates that he is considered a weak link in the team , I didn't know that was the case .

The question that arises with Carra is that, ideally, he doesn't provide what we want. Given their choice I imagine that most posters would like a CB who defends well and can bring the ball forward with aplomb partnered with some dominating monster who tackles anything that moves and stands like goliath for anything put through the air.

Carra is about as red as any player in our history and when your back is against the wall there's probably no one you'd rather on your team. When we're putting together fantasy teams (even realistic ones Modo 😉) most posters don't envisage their particular team being pummelled and so the greatest attribute that Jamie brings doesn't seem a requirement.

I still think Carra will be in the first team more often than not next season because Agger will get injured / make some silly mistakes a bit too often. Hummels/Cahill/Subotic or whoever will not quite read the game as well as they should or they'll miss some headers and people will say "we need Carra in there to shore up the backline".

If we had Sami at age 25 and an iron man version of Agger then Carra would find himself on the bench more often. Reality is we won't get that so Carra will be essential.

Great team.
It should be known by now that I really rate Cahill.
Parker is a strange one considering his age, but I'd love to have him if he was a bit younger.
Would switch Young and Suarez because playing Suarez on the right would limit his chances to cut in and get a good shot in, considering that he's right footed.

I wouldn't say that Carra is the weakest link. We have a weak link on the right wing. It's not about Kuyt because he isn't an out an out winger. It's more about pace and crosses considering that we now have Carroll in the box. We have to take advantage of his aerial ability. We also need a left fullback.
IMO our weakest link is the squad in general we don't have decent enough replacements.
Back to Carra...
Carra is a great defender but I think we can do better. He's not getting any younger and we desperately need someone that can provide a solution to the aerial threat of opposing teams.
Cahill is a good shout so is Hummels or Subotic.
Carra can't play 50 games next season if we are to challenge for anything. His spirit might drive him to pull through, but I worry that his body won't and I don't want us to find that out mid season.

Parker's midtable mediocrity.
Cahill's not all that. If he wasn't English nobody would give a fuck.
I'd really prefer not to have the right-footed Martin Kelly at left-back.
Aquilani's shit.
And Kyrgiakos can fuck off.

Sorry, I just came out of a shit arsed meeting and I'm in a mood.

----------------------Reina

Kelly------Carragher------Agger-----Taiwo

-------Gerrard------Tiote------Meireles

------Suarez------Carroll-----Dzsudzsak

That's realistic without too many sales.

Reina will probably go and allow us to spend a bit more and pick up the best of Madrid's annual clear out.

I think Dalglish may go for an unfashionable wide player. Someone who will stay wide and deliver some crosses for Carroll. Maybe a Downing sort. Maybe Marveaux will do it if he isn't perma crocked?

I wish you'd "all" stop buying us Cahill. We have 6 CB's and included amongst them are possibly the 2 most promising young CB's anywhere in Britain Kelly & Wilson. At least one of them and probably both of them will make the grade and sooner rather than later ergo we don't need Cahill.

We need someone to play CB now.....not in 2-3 years at a consistent level, so thats why people are buying us CBs.

If we've got shed loads of cash to spend this summer then fair enough, but if we don't then buying another CB should be way down on our priority list.

I'm not at all convinced by that argument. Personally I'd sell Skrtel (erratic) and Agger (always injured) and buy someone who can be a rock at the heart of our defence. The next Vidic, whoever that may be. Carra only has a year or two more at the highest level, so that'd be ideal timing to phase in Kelly or Wilson to partner this Sami-esque colossus.

We currently have Carragher, a decent crock, a mistake prone Skrtel, and another mistake prone Greek. The Greek being the only one with any aerial ability. As well as two potentials, and I don't think either are ready to be depended on in the centre.

We badly need a centre back who can be commanding, dominant in the air and preferably fit most of the time. I don't care how many CBs we have already, we don't have any who comes close to filling all those criteria, and we need one. It may not be top priority, but it's definitely something we need to be looking at. Even if it's only for a two or three years until the young lads come through.

I disagree. The positions in most need of strengthening are winger, CM and CB. If I'd have to pick one I'd say CB is the most important one.

Skrtel and the Greek are not good enough, Agger is always injured, it's better to play Kelly as RB for one more season at least, I doubt Wilson will be ready for a big role yet. Also we don't have a big aerial presence in the defense besides the Greek who otherwise just isn't good enough.

Everyone has Kelly playing at RB where he will probably continue to play for a while yet and Wilson, so far, has looked pretty awful.

In an ideal world, we would get a new CB. We've needed one for at least 18 months now.

Personally Bunny i think we could afford to get rid of our Greek lad and still cope very well at the back. Our defence has improved a hell of a lot since Kenny & Co have been working with them, plus when you take into account that this area of our game should get even stronger with the arrival of a LB and a DM this summer, we should see even more improvement.

Maybe i rate our CB's more than others, but i'd be happy to go into next season with Carra, Agger, Skrtel, Kelly and Wilson if other more pressing areas have been taken care of.

Like i said though if we've got loads of dosh, then i wouldn't be against it.

i want a new CB but i don't want to be paying over the odds for one, which subotic, hummels and cahill all will be. ideally we'll get a CB too, one with some experience under his belt (but not old).

Mertesacker would fit in perfectly with your description. He'd be my 'realistic' choice as I too feel the likes of hummels and subotic would be too expensive.
