It's not really news but I was just reminded that we're walking advert now.
That's what I hate about American franchises.

What's up with the pic? I suppose the blue does clash with the red but it kind of works no?

And the problem is? Wouldnt you want a minority owner who happens to be a global superstar to wear the new kit?
Because the NBA are in quarantine, seems strange that he suddenly wears the new kit. He's obviously been told to wear it by Nike.

So you cant get sent the new kit while in quarantine?

We get 20% of the sales revenue so he should wear Liverpool gear as often as he can. The NBA connection saw PSG improve it sales in the US by insane numbers.

I dont care if we market ourselves like this. We have to. We havent got thousands of oil rigs pumping money into our pockets.

The photo was posted by the Lakers which is Nike using their reach. If it sells more shirts that drives the growth of the club then who cares? Only people who hate wools i expect. Those who forget that Liverpool is a city built on immigration, diversity and inclusivity.

Thats Lebron, and he has been wearing kits and Liverpool stuff for years.
He's promoted us in the past because he's a shareholder, but I don't think he's worn the gear. He's a Nike athlete and therefore isn't going to be seen promoting NB. I don't recall ever seeing him NB stuff.

This is deffo arranged with Nike.

Not that I particular care either way.

You dislike people wearing Liverpool tops? Gonna advise you avoid home games.
It's not about that. It just dawned on me that we've become a brand now.
Like people wearing Yankees caps because they look cool.
Yeah Lebron wears our stuff, yeah he's a shareholder. It just feels like seeing athletes wearing Beats headphones(that suck btw) because they were paid to.
But "whatcha gonna do"...have to sell your soul in order to compete I guess.

A bit annoyed really considering he's a Nike sponsored athelete, what's stopping LeBron from turning full kit wanker at this point?

We've always been a brand. It's why ppl in Sweden, Singapore and Senegal support us. People associate us with a myriad of desirable qualities.

You know who isn't a brand? Milton Keynes, Nottingham Forest. and Manchester City.

This is exactly the point of our deal with Nike, they've promised us that mega stars affiliated with Nike will wear the kit, which leads to greater shirt sales, which we get a cut of, this is exactly what we want.

Drake, Lebron, Serena, Travis Scott, etc. If they get pictured in it people will want to buy it, meaning more money for new stands/players/facilities.

I'd have no problem with the liverbird hat becoming the next big thing.

I dunno about that, I started supporting LFC because of the love of the game back in the late 80s.

This is what football is now. Big brand, big business stuff. To be honest this is on the mild side of things. Would it be nice if the game was like it was 30 years ago? Sure would, but it's not. This instance is not a big deal at all. If anything we had been shite at marketing for too long.

Yeah I guess. I just hope that we don't go all out and sell the naming rights to Anfield.
"The KFC Anfield stadium" just doesn't sound right.

Yea ... But you didn't just roll a die and end up with Liverpool right ? You chose them for what it meant to you

I actually, inherited it from my father. I think he chose them because they were winners and played attractive football in the late 70s and 80s.

My older brother who is a bit of a rebel is a Man U fan. Started off as a West Bromwich fan due to Robson and Regis etc.
When Robson and Moses moved to Man U his support shifted as well.

So, I wouldn't call it "brand" in a marketing sense. Maybe brand of football. Certain characters as well.
