WWIII Return of the Ruskie

For those who want a catch up, early signs are the Ukrainian army has pulled Putins pants down and absolutely shat all over his face over the last 72 hours. Lets hope the UA can hold on to this momentum and the Russians can't counterattack them whilst they're pushing so aggressively.

Thanks for that. Worrying but, if anything, puts the Ukrainians' extraordinary resistance into even more striking perspective.

I can't remember who it was unfortunately, but I saw a video on Facebook recently where someone was saying that if Putin ever gave the order to go nuclear (a) it's possible that some in the chain of command could refuse to carry it out and (b) he'd finally begin to run the risk of a coup, because that'd be the point at which even some of the beneficiaries of his rule may start to think the price of supporting him is now too high. Could be wishful thinking of course, but interesting all the same.

Russian Telegram / Twitter is delicious tonight. They are hand wringing, getting philosophical, and insisting that everything is fine. Others are accusing Putin of being too soft or having a secret deal with Biden to lose the war.

It has filled the SCM void caused by the latest postponement of our game

It will truly fill the SCM void when they start complaining about his failure to upgrade the midfield.

Russia is the #1 supplier of military gear to Ukraine.

Russia’s “lying general” outdid himself this time. Can barely keep a straight face while reciting this drivel.

Are there any numbers (that aren't based on propoganda) on the number of casualties on both sides?

The war has been going on for so long now, the numbers must be pretty high.

Jesus, what an utterly embarrassing collapse for Russia, it gets worse and worse the more info that comes out.

At this rate, the Russians are going to lose the support of the Republican Party.*

*Not my joke but I don't care. I don't make the gifs I post either...

Although, how many of these conscripts are actually going to want to fight? Any chance the Russians will get rid of Putin?

I guess we'll find out the mood when we see how many/or not Oligarchs fall from high buildings over the next few weeks.

A few articles suggesting that the sham referendums called in the territories they hold are a way to flip the narrative, i.e. Ukraine is attacking Russia itself if they try and reclaim those territories, and then Russia can take the gloves off so to speak.

What do you think the west would do if Putin finally went all in and dropped a nuke on Ukraine?

We're all fucked if that happens, because that shit will escalate quickly. He's looking for an exit strategy now, and that is to hang on to what he's got and call victory.

Thoughts and prayers mostly.
How does he save face. If in fact true and he has lost all that ground and needs to reign it back he won't want to toddle off back to the Moscow tail between his legs.
He's all in now.
Nuke the place and declare victory or what other options does he have?

Polonium soup.

Would he be mad enough to drop a nuke on Ukraine though? Unless he went for one of those tactical bad boys. Would the prevailing winds not blow a lot of it towards Russia?

Who fucking knows.

Problem is Putin has more than just Nuclear option, he has plenty of other weapons that they used in Syria.
They apparently tested over 300 types of weapons inc the Father of all bombs (play on the Americans using the mother of all bombs in Afganistan)

Maybe the Ukranians have been more resolute and a better opponent that the opposition fighters in Syria but also wonder how many of these he's been itching to use but not because of the added foreign pressure with doing in Russia v Syria

Current mood in Russia in 3 tweets. Prices for plane tickets out of Russia instantly rose tenfold, but even so everything is sold out. Ordinary Russians clearly don’t seem keen about being sent to be vaporized by HIMARS in Ukraine.

There is a big difference between cheering on the war on TV and realizing you yourself (or your husband or son) will be sent to the trenches. I genuinely think Putin has signed his death sentence with that order.
