Alan Hansen :
"What Colombia have done really well is they have sat back, soaked pressure and hammered the Ivory Coast on the break. The final ball has been a bit off. If they could get the first goal, you could see them scoring two, three or four."
"The best chance of the half was a pathetic finish from Gutierrez."

That Cuadrado is some player. Incredible pace, great passing and vision.
Yeah, the BBC pundits were highlighting James Rodriguez before kick off but I think Cuadrado outshone Rodriguez in their first game and is doing so again today.

Poor effort from a free kick from Yaya, have we had a goal from a direct free kick yet?

What is it with Yaya Toure, he either looks like he's running through treacle or charging like Jonah Lomu.

A lot of the keepers have been very shit and punchy so far

This match best stay like this to consolidate my prediction league place.

Think Ivory Coast scored a bit too early for that though, hard to see either side not scoring again.

I really cannot stand how many players (yes, includng our own) will go down late and 'pretend' they need medical assistance ...

If (Big IF) England were to scrape out of the group then getting past Colombia would be extremely difficult.

Actually their defence does look very iffy. I'd defo fancy Sterling/Sturridge against their back 4. I imagine we'd dominate possession as they don't have much of a midfield, but have to look out for their incredible pace in attack.

Serey Die in midfield for Ivory Coast is having a mare.

@WorldCupPosts: Ivory Coast midfielder Serey Die's father reportedly passed away 2 hours before kick-off today. The 29-year-old played 73 minutes. Respect.

Gerrard yet again fails to clear the first man with a corner. How a player of his technique keeps doing this is a mystery.

Uruguay are making it hard for England to keep the ball in attack. Flooded the midfield, England players can't find any space.

This ref is dodgy. Uruguay should be down to ten men by now and yet he's giving loads of free kicks against England.

so this is the thread for talking about England v Uruguay, not the England v Uruguay one

Rickie for Rooney Roy
or
Wickie for Wooney Woy
