Well, Dawson's not going to this or any World Cup, so let's knock that one on the head quickstyle.

You sure, Mr O'Hare ?
He's being talked up a hell of alot at the moment.

Xavi's fucked for Spain apparently. Calf injury.

Normally that'd be a nightmare for any side to deal with, but his replacement is likely to be Fabregas.

Will Fabregas be fit. I thought he'd fractured his leg ?
I'd be astonished if he took Dawson. A-Stonished.

now i've got england in the work sweep i'm gonna have to be all "patriotic"

what a rip

Great advert. I cried blood watching that last night.

Yeah, it's superb.

If only they put in as much effort into ensuring their beer did not resemble watered down horse piss.

The best name at this World Cup has to be Georgie Welcome of Honduras.
How very amiable. He will possibly see Nigeria's new President at the World Cup who goes by the name of "Goodluck Jonathon", now that's what I call a name.

It looks as though you may be correct.

The "talking up" has quietened down.

Australia's provisional 31-man squad is: Michael Beachamp, Marco Bresciano, Tim Cahill, Nick Carle, David Carney, Scott Chipperfield, Jason Culina, Brett Emerton, Adam Federici, Eugene Galekovic, Richard Garcia, Vincenzo Grella, James Holland, Brett Holman, Mile Jedinak, Brad Jones, Joshua Kennedy, Harry Kewell, Shane Lowry, Scott McDonald, Mark Milligan, Craig Moore, Lucas Neill, Jade North, Thomas Oar, Nikita Rukavytsya, Mark Schwarzer, Carl Valeri, Dario Vidosic, Luke Wilkshire, Rhys Williams

Some very strange inclusions there - Holman, Lowry, Holland. No place for Colosimo, Ognenovski, Coyne, Sterjovski.

On another note - I've played against 5 players from that squad. That should tell you all you need to know about Australia's chances in SA.

Sterjovski is shit anyway.

Is Kewell going to be fit?
Sterjovski is shit indeed.

Kewell will be 'Kewell-fit' which means he'll be there to hog the limelight and possible glory, but add fuck all and limp out with the sort of injury that 99% of other footballers play with every week.

Any news on the New Zealand squad, Ryan ?
New Zealand squad
Goalkeepers: James Bannatyne (Team Wellington), Glen Moss (Melbourne Victory/Australia), Mark Paston (Wellington Phoenix)

Defenders: Andy Boyens (New York Red Bulls/USA), Tony Lochhead (Wellington Phoenix), Ryan Nelsen (Blackburn Rovers/England), Winston Reid (FC Midtjylland/Denmark), Ben Sigmund (Wellington Phoenix), Tommy Smith (Ipswich Town/England), Ivan Vicelich (Auckland City)

Midfielders: Andy Barron (Team Wellington), Leo Bertos (Wellington Phoenix), Tim Brown (Wellington Phoenix), Jeremy Christie (FC Tampa Bay Rowdies/USA), Aaron Clapham (Canterbury United), Simon Elliott (unattached), Michael McGlinchey (Motherwell/Scotland), David Mulligan (unattached)

Forwards: Jeremy Brockie (Newcastle Jets/Australia), Rory Fallon (Plymouth Argyle/England), Chris Killen (Middlesbrough/England), Shane Smeltz (Gold Coast United/Australia), Chris Wood (West Bromwich Albion/England)

Here's a quick rundown of that for you, with some highlights...

Glenn Moss - First choice goalkeeper - Can't get a game for Melbourne Victory. My girlfriend's mate used to nail him.

Mark Paston - 3rd choice goalkeeper at Wellington Phoenix. The only professional club in New Zealand.

Ryan Nelsen - The only Premier League player in the team, and thus quite obviously the Captain of this almighty shower. He's got a 'free role' in the team. He's their centre back. Work that one out.

Aaron Clapham - Couldn't get a game last year in the same league as me.

David Mulligan - 200 appearances at non-league level in England, before coming back to New Zealand to play for the Phoenix. I say 'play'.. He's been there for 2 seasons, made 3 appearances, and has just been released. He's currently a free agent, unable to find a club to take him, this is a picture of the fat useless cunt, and he's going to the World Cup Finals.

Does the fact that New Zeland are going to the World Cup and I've got an issue with that come across in my posts do you think?

That's how they play strangely enough.

Their Manager's excellent, they've a decent midfield, and they're hard to beat. But that's about it, they won't get out of that Group.

Ok we're unstickying this now. As the regular season has ended there will be too many threads and topics of discussion about the world cup to put in one looooong thread.
Cheers

We are going to play the Aussies in a test-match soon, looking forward too it although I can't say it's that many familiar names we're up against. Always a good opponent though.

*Yeah...can't believe Ognenwhathisname got left out either.. who?

Haha splendid update Ryan.

I've got a feeling they'll struggle a bit.

That said Winston Reid is actually half decent.

Culina played on the left for GCU for large parts of the season, and Verbeek played him there in their last 3 games. Either way, doesn't really matter though.
