wise move by rogers to play wisdom...

have been impressed, he deserves his own thread. admittedly not part of a back 4 yet to keep a clean sheet, but he has come in and looked assured. strong, pacey, can pass and brave. bright future, might even be better at cb?

He does have the odd mistake in him having watched him in the reserves and centre half is definitely his position rather than right back but early signs do look good.

Not to be a debbie downer but we said the same when Kenny played Flanno and Robinson.

Let's wait a few more games or even till next season. If he maintains it throughout this season with regular games then yes it's gonna be boss.

I've always been a fan but I've been pleasantly surprised by how well he's coped at RB. He's a proper CB, but last season he had a few shaky spells where he was tricked into making some clumsy errors - all part of the learning process, of course, and he's a quick learner - so I feared the combination of playing out of position along with big game pressure might unnerve him, but he's looked very solid and assured. As Red Mullet notes, you just can't tell until they've had a few games, and maybe overcome a Flanno-like setback, but Wisdom has it all as a defender and has a captain's temperament as well.

It's funny cos it's all the old timers fucking up, the lads who've filled in have played with confidence and not made too many mistakes.

As RM said though, there's a long way to go yet, he's looked quite good and kept most things out down that side, but it'll be interesting to see what he's like against someone who'll look to get at him.

He's been caught out of position a few times, having non-defensive players ahead of him might not help (Kuyt, for example, would have helped him out a lot more, thus his positioning would seem less suspect), but he's definitely a very talented young player that seems to have a bright future. Certainly way better a footballer than Flanno.
Comfortable on the ball, can see the simple passes in tight situations, and bloody strong for someone his age. He's the new breed of players coming through and I'm loving it.
I've a feeling he's being instructed not to get forward (probably cause Johnson's practically playing a winger's position), but I like that for now. Keep it simple, get used to the atmosphere and then start expressing once he's really comfortable.
Should it eventually become him and Coates/Kelly in the middle, it'll feel good to finally have a centre back with pace, particularly with Rodger's high defensive line in mind.

He'll also benefit from supporters being patient with him when he does have a poor match. I know Flanno had a nightmare last season but you'd think he was already in his coffin the way fans have dismissed him since.
It's just that he's so limited. That's okay if he turns into a Carra, of course, but his lapse in concentration, coupled by his obvious limitation, is hard to get excited about.
He's a good lad that I hope makes it, but with the style Rodgers wants and what we want to see, you can't blame a lot of us for being much more excited about the young ones coming out with a much bigger skillset, mindset, and/or pace.

I don't think Flannagan has got the talent to make it here. Nice to be proved wrong but I reckon he will end up being moved on soon enough.

I think he has a chance. It may be wishful thinking, but I reckon I've seen touches of class from him above and beyond what I'd expect from someone that young, especially a defender.

Wisdom has real presence even at his age. He's quite happy to mix it in the tackle, and scattered two or three defenders when he went up to head that goal against Young Boys. Very promising IMO.

I think you're right, especially under rogers. he always looked a bit uncomposed on the ball. great grit, but with rogers you need more than that.

exactly. he comes across much older than he is. i have high hopes.

Aren't we expecting McLaughlin to be the future at RB?

I've liked how Wisdom's slotted in so far - he needs to kick on now and establish himself.
