Will.I.An

we will tinker and haggle over a couple of mill for the next two weeks and then some other club will gazump us

Obviously, but Anzhi have transfer listed all their players and have given them permission to speak to clubs already.
Which means that instead of agreeing a fee first you can now talk to the player first and then discuss the fee.

Usually a move is sounded out through the agent, but now an interested club can talk directly to Willian.

Which is why I wondered if we've agreed personal terms now that we've opened talks about a fee.

If we have, this could move quickly, as i've always imagined agreeing a deal with the player was the slowest part.

Brazilians are more likely to get a work permit due to the size of the country and the number of quality footballers it produces.

If we sign this fella, I'll be chuffed, and it'll be at tidy statement of intent, BUT, if he is going for about 30mill quid, is he the best option in the entire world for forward positions for that sort of money? 30mill quid buys you a lot of world class players.
I'll have to blindly hope that Rodgers and the team are pulling off another Countinho/Sturridge style signing.

@BenSmithBBC: #LFC have made an enquiry for Willian. Nothing more yet. Fee would be minimum £25m but #LFC confident they can pull it off

If Lucas got a permit, surely Willian would get one? There really should be a blanket rule on work permits in football, it clearly benefits the country.

Isnt the work permit an EU thing, so if he has already moved to Europe for Anzhi then he should be ok?

Nope, it's a UK thing, you need to be a citizen of the EU, or to have obtained a UK work permit, to work in this country.

It's fucking ridiculous. No footy player signing for a premiership team should ever struggle to get one because they're pumping thousands into the economy in tax.

Exactly, i guess they could argue that it is at the expense of a UK person getting that salary but surely there are ways around that?!

I reckon that anything over £20m is too much, he is decent looking but the prices being quoted are ridiculous and are only so high because this cunt in Russia spent way over the top on him and needs to get something similar back. These football barons are throwing out figures of tens of millions like it was fucking monopoly money. If it does happen this cunt better be involved(scoring or assisting) in 30 goals this year. Someone rumored to be priced at £25m would at least be expected to be a regular in the national team.
P.S. I'll happily eat my words if he is a revelation

I'd be happy to spend £25million on him. Even if it is a little too much, we need a marque signing to improve the team, and to improve the feeling around the team, a front four of Willian, Sturridge, Suarez and Coutinho is nothing short of sensational.

Agree on all counts. Confirming such a signing early in the new season is a big show of intent.

Do you think some cunt wil go as far as getting WILL.I.AN. on the back of a jersey?
