dear lord ...i've said it before and i will say it again , everyone involved in liverpool fc over the last 20 yrs can fuck right off because they've all contributed to putting us in a position where we are worried about spurs...fucking spurs ...beating us to a signing .

it's just shocking how inept we've been for so long.

Anzhi Makhachkala midfielder Willian has told ESPN Brasil he would welcome a move to a "great club" like Liverpool and is expecting a number of offers in the coming days.
Liverpool are favourites to sign the 25-year-old, although Tottenham and Manchester United are reportedly also keen to make an offer.

Despite Willian only signing for Anzhi from Shakhtar Donetsk in January, it is believed the Russian club are eager to cut costs and the playmaker has revealed talks with a number of clubs are likely to enter an advanced stage this week.
"For now, all there is are talks," he told ESPN Brasil. "There was the Manchester City bid and that was turned down and that was a while ago.

"Now I'm waiting for a new bid to arrive in the next days from a few clubs, like Liverpool. If it's really Liverpool, then it is surely a great club. I'm hopeful and very calm, just waiting for the best.
"I know some clubs have talked with my agent about the money, but he hasn't told me anything. He only said that he had conversations with some clubs, and he also didn't tell me which clubs."
But when asked if the clubs involved were English, Willian added: "I think so. England is my goal. The English championship is the dream of many players and I'm no different.
"I like the Premier League very much, I enjoy the English football and certainly, if that happens, it will be very good for me and for my image."
Willian admits he was shocked by Anzhi owner Suleiman Kerimov's decision to radically reduce the club's spending, which could boost Liverpool's chances of signing the Brazilian.
"I saw the news on the internet, and then when I got to the club I heard lots of people talking about it," he said. "No one was expecting it, that's for sure. I respect everyone's opinion, though. He probably has his reasons to decide that.
"I'd rather stay cool, working and never let my head down, even in a situation like this. All I know is that [Kerimov] told us that Anzhi wouldn't be making further investments, that in six months they will be returning to Makachkala, that they'll be going home, that more Russian players will arrive and that if the foreign players who had offers would be free to go, that he would help us.
"He doesn't want to let anyone go for free but he made it clear that if good bids arrive - something at least close to what he paid for the players - he would certainly help us go. [He is] not giving anyone away. [But] if a good offer arrives, they'll let us go. If not, we stay. That's it."

Here is him against last season's champions:

And against Chelsea:

Shakhtar lost this game against Juve, but Willian gave Arturo Vidal a torrid time all match:

If we're at all serious about him we should be sorting this out right now, getting the player to push the move internally whilst we speak to them.

If he's actually that good a CL club will be in for him soon.

I've said this a few times, but it is a bit bewildering why so many clubs leave concluding their business until late in the window. I guess us going for a few top bracket players was always going to run the risk of being trumped to it by a team with better short term prospects. That's the reality of it, we've said enough times we want to buy, but we've lost out on a few because we can't offer European Football, that's just where we're at. We could just go out and spend it on lesser, lower priced players for the sake of it, but that would be running into old territory and people would still moan.

I wonder whether we're trying to reach a specific figure in terms of wages turnover & therefore bringing in a big salary player a few weeks earlier might make that figure worse?

Seems bizarre but then we have seemingly worked very very hard to get that wage bill reduced so I assume the owners have given a target.

Mr Rodgers said today that no transfers are imminent.

Im fucking convinced we didnt try and sign Myktharian and all this shit is bluster and we will be all like 'Oh look at who we tried to get Myktharian and Will.I.an and it didnt work out'

We're a fucking joke.

This is the type of thing Everton do every summer.

I guess that's the level we are at now.

We probably do have a target, but I think that's independent, we've clearly been trying to sign a player, all the way back to the beginning of the window, however none of them have worked out, hence why we're still here trying. I really hope we can tie up the Willian deal in the next few days, I really want this to happen. If we could get the deal done today, and have him there at Anfield tomorrow, that would be a huge moral boost.

I agree with this; think we have cleared the decks of waste, in terms of both wages and space, and now there is a berth for a big player. One hopefully who actually is worth his wages.

He has vision! Sign the fucker already. We need a player like that against teams that parks deep.

Watching the youtube vids and I desperatly want us to sign him now.
I'd pay 30 mill for the stepovers alone!

I stand corrected. Later in the video it seems to turns into a 4-3-3. That's far too adventurous for Budgie

After Scolari's recent comments about players sacrificing financial benefit for playing time to play for the Selecao, Willian would do well to come to us in a WC year as he'll be a definate starter.

I wait in hope with baited breath.
