It may be an outdated view (I'm a dinosaur), but I am of the opinion that if you have two slightly better than average players like Salah & Messi, they will find a way to play together very well.

Would they do it if they did not win the CL this season..?
Also If they feel that Salah would not only help them to win the CL be would make they the club that players dream of joining (That place held by Real Marid) would it also entice them to make a bid for Salah...?
I believe the owners would sanction such a move
You tell me mate - do you reckon they’d pay over the odds for a 30 year old Salah that they know we’ll use to fund 2-3 younger players that we’ve identified as possibly building a team around to challenge for the champions league for the next decade....
Or...
They go after the players we’re likely to buy instead.
If I were PSG - and Mbappe went to Real... I’d be signing Haaland... not Salah.
For the owners of Qatar FC, its more about image than anything else. Mo, is the greatest Arab footballer of all time. You could argue Zidane is but Zidane was French. For Qatar FC to get Salah will look good to the Arab word.
Surely if that were the case they would have been throwing silly money at us for Salah long before now, and to be honest there is a good chance we would have ended up taking it.
They wouldn't have waited until he was 30 and his contract was running out. If they WERE happy to wait this long, surely they could hang on another year and get him for free?

If they were sure they could get him for free, I would imagine they would wait, but if he doesn't sign Salah goes on the market.
And if he goes on the market, with a year to go until he can leave for free, there would have to be at least two wealthy clubs who would be willing to pay a lot of money to get him a year early for us to get a high price, right? Our bargaining position wouldn't exactly be great
If a bidding war goes on who knows, I would hope we can get north of £60m plus.
If this is season is write-off where only top 4 matters, then I think selling him in Jan is worth considering (of course this is on the proviso he doesn't sign a new deal)
So you'd rather he left on a free if he doesn't sign a new deal? which is by no means a guarentee.

Perhaps, who knows. As I said, that would take at least two clubs who would be so desperate to sign him that they would throw money at us to get him a year or so early. What's to stop them both/all waiting a few months to throw the money directly at him? They would still be bidding against each other, after all.
The power is with the player at this point. We might get lucky but we should probably get used to the idea that the opportunity to sell Salah to fund wider rebuilding has probably gone.
If he doesn't sign a new deal then of course we have to look to sell him (very, VERY reluctantly. We should be rebuilding around Salah, not in place of him, but we might as well get SOMETHING towards replacing him if he insists on leaving) but I can't realistically see how we would get an awful lot.
