Who will the Yanks hire to replace Rafa?

I think it's important to try and focus on who the yanks will go for to replace Rafa this summer, should he leave the club of course. There is no point, in my opinion, in saying we should go for José Mourhino as we will struggle to match his wage demands (unless he fancies taking a hefty pay cut) and we will not be in a position to offer him a 'warchest'. Well we won't be able to match what City will offer him this summer, that is for sure.

So who will they opt for? There are one or two guys out of work right now and could start the job immediately. People like Sven and Mark Hughes could be viewed as potential targets as there would be no compensation to pay to any club. Might they rekindle their love interest with Jurgen?

Who would appeal to the Yanks?

if rafa is sacked it would be nice if he were replaced with a manager who insisted on his team passing the ball, from front to back, no excuses. oh, it would also be good if he picked players based on form and hooked them if they had a sustained slump. yeah, that would be fucking ACE!

Roy Hodgeson has Fulham passing the ball around quite nicely, Neil. Would you take him?

I think that will be the level we will be looking at but I was actually thinking of frank rijkaard

Most peoples choice would be mourinho or hiddink.. they are mine with mourinho as favourite!

my preference after that would be Hodgeson as he wouldnt command high wages and i like what he has done with fulham.

Another good shout would be genoa coach Gian Piero Gasperini, what he did with genoa (bringing in 8 new players for a very low cost last season to finish close to champions league places shouldnt go un-noticed especially with our financial situation).

Luigi Del Neri, has made sampdoria a force this season and wouldnt be bad either.

obviously i would not like to see either 1 of them because we are liverpool and should be going for the best but these are tough times and we have to accept something less.

oh god.

Interesting to see some of the names there Zlatan18, I have not heard of either of them. Are either of them on long term deals? Would they be realistic contenders for the job at Liverpool?

It isn't going to be anyone much better than Hodgeson, Skully.
We're not shopping in Harrods anymore.

that's what's coming into focus for me. it's extremely sobering, really.

Lauren Blanc is an interesting one, he's doing a great job at Bordeaux and has PL experience as a player (albeit for the Mancs). Sure he's young inexperienced but I think we could do much worse.

Blanc would be good, although I don't like the utd connection. That said, they seem to ignore the busby one well enough.

I've read Inter want him as a replacement. They are full sure Jose will be off this summer.

Considering our last 2 managers were meant to be european giants with good success behind them, perhaps an appointment like Hodgson would be a refreshing change of pace. SOmeone who realises they're lucky to manage us

another would be palermo's coach del nido i think his name is. they are currently 4th and he has brought through players like kjaer, pastore and cavani who are all top class players now.

im not sure about their contracts or if they would be looked at by our owners but i think they would definetly be worth watching.

i was going to mention blanc, but would he come considering his ties with the scum? i dont think so

If the gaffer leaves come Summer we are probably looking forward to be playing Europa League-football next Season and we'd also be heading for another transition period pre Rafa-era.

And as such I'd be hoping for us to go for someone with the right attacking mentality and I wouldn't even mind if he was slightly unproven. All I want is for us to unearth someone extremely talented and positive in their approach, someone who canget us back to both winnings-ways and beautiful football instead of just going for someone we know is as defensive-minded (Mourinho) as Rafa is.

Install the right backroom-staff (Liverpuddlians galore) around him so he's getting familiar with our club and style from people who are in the know.

I know who that person could be, he was even giving a big interview a few weeks back on the official which I found a bit odd to be honest.

I won't mention him though as I'm affraid of beeing ridiculed.

It's Laudrup.

(In my excuse I don't know of that many young-ish and talented managers around but I wouldn't mind someone Dutch either I reckon).

Fabio Capello would be top of my list.
I would no longer be against the idea of Mourinho, o'neill or Rikjard.
After that an English manager so Hodgson or Redknapp.
Oh and Lippi would be high up too.

capello said he isn't going back into domestic football. I doubt jose will come with fuck all money to spend, oneill's project is in far better shape than our shambles, rijkaard is a good shout. rijkaard also has the same pedigree as rafa a spainish title and a european cup.

I'd say we have a better chance of getting Lippi than Capello given his 'England will be my last job' quotes. Lippi is no spring chicken himself.

Who do you think the owners will be looking at Herr?

ha ha the fans wanted to burn the owners for

a) wanting to sack rafa
would they (the fans) even make a peep at the owners if they (the yanks) pulled the plug on rafa tomorrow?

b) wanting to hire klinsman
how many fans would take klinsman over rafa now?

I've no idea who they'll be looking at but I'm not too worried about it. Their last two appointments seem to be working out just fine

let's be honest ros you wouldn't be too worried if the yanks unveiled a bag of crisps as the new manager so desparate do you want rid of rafa.

right.

"Last Job for Capello" my arse.

He's already in talks with the Russian federation with the view to replacing Hiddink.

Not saying he'd come to us like, but you can't take everything you read at face value. Everyone has their price.

Hopefully the septic's won't be in charge when the time comes to make this decision.

Jose would be my first choice, but being realistic i'd opt for someone like Blanc.

Redknapp, MON, McLeish, Sven, Rijkaard, Hiddink and Hodgson can all fuck right off.
