- Have it on good authority that Liverpool was in contact for Iker Muniain. Bilbao rebuffed approach, wanting to sell him on top form, not now
Liverpool contacted Bilbao for Muniain after Willian deal fell through. Was seen as an ideal, pacy left-forward, capable of adding goals.
Muniain has a contract till 2015 - Bilbao hoping to wring one good season out of him before selling for top price. Was abysmal in 2012-2013.
Agreed, besides which the money situation (both at LFC and at the teams currently above us) means we have to go down this route anyway.
Not a rehash - the arsenal thread was discussing our failure to want to compete for the top players by our unwillingess to pay a little bit more, something Arsene is an expert in.

One of the stars of the Bilbao team that ripped up the UEFA Cup a few seasons ago Macca. He was outstanding.
He was "the next big thing" a season or two ago in Spain.
Had a stinker for Bilbao last season apparently.
I guess we were hoping to get him on the cheap and get him to then fulfill his earlier potential

Personally I'd be quite happy with that. Especially so late on in the transfer window.

See that sounds good. But, we know about two lb/cb, one other is moses.
That leaves just one other signing.
One of the defenders is young & not ready for the first team yet & one is a slight improvement by all accounts. Moses is debatable but I really like him & think he'd be a definite improvement.
So ignoring the fourth signing & assuming we get moses we've made the following changes to the first team.
Centre back, goalkeeper, left back, right wing.
I think we needed a centre back & left back, but the lb was nowhere near priority. It just doesn't feel like we've prioritised in the right areas of the pitch.

yep, very disappointing on the attack front. I genuinely think don't see Moses as a major improvement on Sterling,
clips of Illori on youtube seem to show him playing at a right back position, not sure if this was a back 3 or not.
Kelly's future looks very bleak.
Would be gutted for Wisdom, I have high hopes for him.
