What's the point of Lucas?

I don't get all that 'selling club' stuff. All clubs sell when the price suits.
Everyone calls Spurs and Arsenal for selling players but they're better off than we are for hanging onto the same players.

This - absolutely this.

As are United.

We'd look like a selling club ?
Who cares ? I've never understood the fascination with image, particularly when we're shit.

That's preferable to looking like a mid table one. Or actually being one.

Nobody is missing the point Mark, we disagree that it's a good squad.

I never said it was a good squad, I said spending millions on shite players is as much, if not more of a factor in where we are. It's not down to the Gerrard's and Carragher's.

As for image, of course is matters. So because we're shit at the moment we shouldn't aspire to greater things while trying to maintain some hold over our players? Please. It's the quickest way to Arsenal-ville. We need to be seen to be capable of keeping hold of players, of course it's important, when players come here they want to be going to a club that has some level of stability, pulling AND staying power.

Course they do, it's not about selling when the time/money is right, United do that, Chelsea do it, it's giving off this impression that all of our players have a price. Behind closed doors that's obviously true, but you don't whore the fact around Europe do you?

Mark, we would love to be in Arsenal-ville. Champions league football every year.

We should not be holding onto a bunch of expensive players who keep taking us to seventh. If we were top four, by all means keep them and add carefully. But when we're thirty points off the top you have to reexamine the core of the squad.

To be honest Mark, I wasn't exactly thinking an advert in Exchange & Mart myself.

Messi's shit because Argentina, who have built the team around him for 5 years, have done fuck all in world football.
It really sounds stupid doesn't it.

You have a problem with logic.
Hahahaha.
Managers don't make a difference. Rafa's a shit manager who brought us down.
Money makes more difference in league positions than anything else. We've pissed money away.
We've finished 7/8th for 3 seasons. Ergo Lucas is shit, and all other players in that era would be better off sold. Argentina's been shit for years, ergo Messi's shit... Whoops sorry, but that's stupid. Messi's boss.

You logical wizard, you.

Hi again, this is Lucas Leiva and you are watching Six Crazy Minutes. Welcome to The Pictures of My Life.

I like football very much, but one thing you may not know about me is that I am also a big, big fan of rock music and I play guitar in a band whenever I go home to Brazil:

Being out injured last season was a depressing time for me, but I took comfort from the tiny poultry farm that I started as therapy:

Another thing you probably do not know about me is that I love to fish. Here I am with the biggest fish I have caught so far:

Thank you for watching me and I would very much like to be the new vice captain of Liverpool Football Club. Please vote for me.

It's only your last sentence that's stupid. Do you want to know why ?

Only a complete moron would take cup competition results as representative of the teams talent. Surely I don't need to explain why ?

Please do, for all the morons.

Just had a quick check.

In the FA Cup for the last 20 years, Portsmouth are the only team outside of us, United, Arsenal, Chelsea and now City to have won it. So you can safely say one of the most talented teams wins it.

For the Champions League, the only teams you could argue with in the past 20 years are us, Chelsea and Porto. So still about an 85% record of the best teams winning it.

For the World Cup, I'm not sure if there's ever been a case of one of the best teams not winning it, has there?

It's not 100%, but the best teams tend to win the major cups the majority of the time.
