What's the point of Lucas?

Is it essential to have someone amble about in the middle who can't pass or tackle well?

Is this what football has become?

A team with more ambition than Everton would have beaten us today but they came for a point and got it, another round of disappointing performances from many of the usual suspects after a great game last week against Newcastle. The inconsistency, or rather the lack of effort on some occasions from a few of our players is appaling

Enrique Johnson and Lucas neednt have bothered turning up today as they were all going through the motions in an all to familiar careless style

Lucas did well today. Positioned himself well and made it harder for Everton to attack through the middle.
Rafa, Hodgson, Kenny and Rodgers can't all be wrong. There's a reason he's playing in the middle and is so highly regarded.

Could go the other way too - a team with more ambition might've been more open and less tight at the back too, so we'd have had better chances. It was a tight game, both teams weren't at their best with players under performing. That's really all there is to it.

Other than that, they should've been playing with 10 players albeit and never scored the disallowed goal because that thunder cunt should've been in the dressing rooms.

ha ...you mean the managers who have lead us to 7th,6th,8th and most likely 7th again ??

I thought Hodgson played him by default after Masher left?

.

Wouldnt disagree with that but they only really needed a point, the onus was on us to take the game to them and win it, they could afford to be more cautious. Disappointed by alot of the performance today, that game was really all that was left to play for this season and half the team just didnt look bothered

ha you mean it's all Lucas fault?

Eh no , i mean considering how poorly we've finished under all those managers , does their opinion on a player carry much weight ? i'd say they all could easily be wrong .

So you're saying that the opinion of multiple league winners and European cup winners does not carry much weight?

Tackled well first half, passing was shite

Second half... Just shit.

I'd like a new defensive mid please

He wasn't the reason we were shit today.

Our attacking game was very poor compared to last week. Too many basic errors.

Oh I agree completely

lucas takes all pace out of any attacks, but our problems today stemmed from a lack of mobility and exploiting spaces.

Lucas is like downing I think. Plays well when the team is winning, drifts in to anonymity otherwise

Putting aside who is right / wrong, the "so and so reckon he's good so nerrr" is a poor argument and always has been.

People always are too ready to make up an excuse for him.

If we let in goals - he is not the reason we lost the game, the defense was shite.

If we don't score goals - he tackled well, he is not the reason we lost the game our attack was shite.

It's as if people think it's clever to rate him. It somehow makes it appear like you are well learned about the art of football because you know how to appreciate such a totally pointless footballer.

Lucas was utter shite today. Passes going astray, tackling was horrendous and putting team mates into trouble with unplayable passes.

I'm not a Lucas fan and wish he were banished to the subs bench/squad.

Today was no different to any other, his positional sense is good. He covers well for the full backs and harrasses any opposition player carrying the ball into the last third. The problem is his capacity to tackle is mediocre and he is unable to do anything accurately beyond a ten yard pass, the worse bit is that in all things he's mentally slow.
