I don't know about anyone else on here but proportionately I've wasted just as much money as Liverpool in my life on stupid purchases which I thought at the time would improve my lot only for it to turn to shit sooner or later.

I'm sure those in charge of the purse strings hope, like I do; to avoid making the same mistakes again if at all possible.

As for the 70m+ wasted, I'm with the other posters in expecting we'd have just signed some alternate duds unless our luck was in. I reckon this transfer stuff is about 80% luck and 20% knowledge.

interesting point, suggesting that the prospect of most transfers being successful is very slim.

It's only 80% luck when the buying club fails to do their homework. There is some degree of luck with all signings, but a decent scouting and management team will reduce that risk right down.
