I genuinely feel sorry for Gerrard. One of our greatest ever players who deserved better players around him.
not a valid excuse. gerrard was tearing shit up last season and what are the major changes this time round? alonso and arbeloa fucking off replaced by johnson and aqua. johnson is better than arbeloa and with regards to alonso I guess that made alonso a more important player than gerrard?
What are you saying; that our players arent playing shit?
no, I'm saying it goes beyond gerrard looking around at rubbish players and feeling apathetic, techincally he was surrounded by rubbish players last season. gerrard's form goes beyond loathing of his peers.

I were to make an observation with regards to gerrards form I think it is a combination of collectively dropping deeper as a team, leaving him isolated up front, the pace of service to him is slower (alonso simply saw passes earlier) meaning he is getting closed down sooner and the long term injuries to torres who is able to turn even average service into solid end product.

Another lazy, moody, moany, cuntish display. How many is he going to get away with before he gets a little stick?
A little stick? You have been berating Gerrard since you signed up to this forum.
Like Le Tallec Wiz said, just talk about something else.

I do feel sorry for Gerrard, im sure he thought as well as Torres that this team would push on this season. Instead of that he's got to pretty much lead the line himself, as N'gogs not capable of doing it, whilst having to rely on a service that isnt up to the standard that he himself would provide.
Add to that, that Rafa chooses to leave £20 million worth of apparent quality on the bench while bringing on a 23 year old (el zhar) that hasnt developed one bit in 4 years at the club, and in my opinion should never have gotten near the first team again after that sub appearance in the 2-2 with hull at Anfield 2 seasons ago! I've had a go at Gerrard every now and again this season but it must be so frustrating for everything having to always fall on his shoulders!

Predictable shite.

All our senior players are fed up playing with shite like Lucas and N'gog.

I cant blame them really. And I can blame the poor N'gog, poor lad alone upfront.
Please Juve, make us this favour!

Painful season.

Are the team flyting back or still doing the reverse train-bus thingy? Away to Burnley at the weekend, I'm already worrying 🙁

How many times are you going to moan about bloody Gerrard? We get it, he shagged your wife and you hate him.
Or his 16 year old daughter.

I suppose we will see if the form Stevie has shown this season is down to the shite around him when he plays in the WC. If he is on fire then I suppose that point could be proven, if he is pants then maybe (hopefully) he is just having a bad year

I thought lucas was a little bright spot last night, he put in a few devilish little balls

he also wasted a lot but thats nothing new

I hope I'm wrong, but I'll be surprised if he's properly on his game. He rarely has been for England, for a variety of reasons (which have mostly had little to do with him).

Away form had been ghastly. Burnley's fighting against relegation.
Unless you mean you ALREADY don't expect us to take anything away for this game.

Yea, if our team was really tired, it would be horrible.

It would probably manifest itself as a dull, lifeless away performance, causing us to drop points against utter shit.

This is Marky. He can't muster up the courage to talk to women, never mind marry one.

And after two bellend goals by Benny and Kuyt we will go through to the final and the whole stadium will stand side by side singing out Rafas praise.... I want to puke....

What's the consequence if we don't?

We don't make the Europa Cup.

Big whoop.

Its been remarked on a few times over the years but great player that he is Gerrard is a poor captain. The old excuse was that he led by example if nothing else, but he doesnt even do that anymore. He looks like he has lost a yard of pace, he doesnt seem to accelerate passed players anymore and worse he doesnt look like he cares one way or another.

And I dont by this "oh but look at the players he has had to play with" crap either, look at the shite Shearer played with at Newcastle and he put everything he had on the line for them everytime he played no matter how appaling they were and they were awful at times. I dont feel sorry for Gerrard, he has had a fantastic career regardless of whether or not he has a premier league medal to his name. Hes been an embarrassment this season, if he wants out let him go, and reivest the money in a team that doesnt have to be built around him. If he wants to stay fine but not with the attitude hes had this season, he is at a crossroads now, if he is gonna go to chase medals it has to be this season, if hes gonna stay then he needs a serious attitude adjustment

Gerrard has had a pretty miserable season by his standards, but really shouldn't be so reliant on him at this stage and that's all down to Benitez. People often commented that we were a mid table team without G and T. Looks like they were right.

I don't think we've been able to rely on Stevie for some time for consistency or leadership.

I think it's more a case of us hoping that he will do something remarkable which he is well capable of, and of course; he often obliges.

Maybe he's become stale, or depressed at the realisation that unless we are able to buy better players we're unlikely to sustain any challenge. He's made it plain he thinks we need at least 4 quality players, reported in the press recently I seem to recall.

Great post mate.

His attitude has been disgusting throughout this season. When the chips have been down and this great club have been made to look a laughing stock our Captain has been nowhere to be seen.

The moody demenour, rollocking of team-mates, shit, dis-interested, uninspired performances is surely wearing a bit think for even the most ardent Steven Gerrard fan.

What I don't get is when he says nothing on the field, he's accused of being a shit leader.

But when he does give his teammates a rollocking, he's again, accused of being a shit leader.

Make up your mind.

Heaven forbid he ever tries encouraging instead.
He does at times. It's just overlooked because he's a "shit leader". Whereas when Carra screams in people faces, it's fine.

He's not the most natural captain we've had in our history, but he is a fantastic player that's given so much to this club and it deserves an easier time of it. He's had one bad season in god knows how many and he's earned our patience.

To say he's at a bit of a crossroads is perhaps a bit dramatic, we don't know what's on his mind. If he is considering leaving however, Redstar is right - it has to be this summer.

i dont like the way Carra goes off his chops at times..

The best Captains over the recent years would be Hyypia, Reina and Kuyt.. Shouting at people like a complete loon isnt generally the best way to get the best out of people. Maybe 15/20% of the Footballing world would be motiviated by that.. The rest would just be pissed off, bitter and probably lose focus.

Stevie doesn't encourage people nearly as much as Carra does though. Rightly or wrongly (I happen to think it's rightly), there's a perception that some of Stevie's interventions are those of an acknowledged star throwing tantrums at less gifted colleagues, whereas Carra's are only ever aimed at improving his colleagues' contribution to the team effort, hence his generally much more encouraging behaviour towards them alongside the bollockings he gives out.

This is not to endorse franklyfrank's crusade against Stevie, which is becoming nearly as wearing as Chacal's against Benitez (or as spider-neil's used to be over Masher, before neil got a grip on himself). The best way to ruin a good argument is to over-emphasise it, and that's a trap into which all these fellas have fallen at one time or another. The fact remains that there are genuine criticisms to be made of Stevie's leadership, which is a different issue altogether from that of his playing form this season.

just to clarify it would sadden me deeply to see Gerrard leave but Gerrard is a great player he is not the club, te club would continue without him for better or worse. The apparent motivations for his demeanor this season have been debated at length. Nobody really knows bar Stevie himself but if he is to remain as the captain then he needs a serious rethink of his role at the club. I have no problem with a captain laying into a player if he is not doing hs job but with Gerrard his outbursts seem more of the Ronaldo variety "how dare you not be as good as me" then the keane "do your fucking job or fuck off" variety

Maybe the captaincy doesnt really suit him anymore, ?
