Skysports.com understands that Liverpool have made bid for PSV Eindhoven forward Ola Toivonen.

Sources in Holland believe that the Premier League Reds have tabled an offer in the region £9million to the current Eredivisie leaders.

The 24-year-old Sweden international has caught the eye of Roy Hodgson, as revealed by skysports.com earlier in the week, with the Liverpool manager looking to increase the attacking support for Fernando Torres.
However, Toivonen has refused to speculate over his future and it had been rumoured that Liverpool would reduce their interest if the forward was cup-tied in Europe.

He played in PSV's Europa League outing against Sibir Novosibirsk on Thursday, but Hodgson is still understood to have gone ahead with his bid.
 
Is he Premier League standard? If he's averaging less than a goal a game in Holland i'd be disappointed. Especially as Huntelaar is available for a similar fee.

I think we should base dutch based strikers on their goal to game ratio before we buy them

3 goals: 1 game then they might be worth a punt

then again afonso alves got 7 in one....

I want to be careful. Because I don't want people to get hyped about him.
He's a decent player. Works hard, has an eye for a goal, good in the air and has a decent passing ability.
But he's a Swede. So it kind of falls apart there.
 
The very fact that he can be compared to Elmander makes me want to vomit off a tall building and then jump off in order to race my vomit to the bottom so it can hit my corpse when it lands.

Apparently, Dalglish was at the PSV-AZ Alkmaar game today. Toivonen had an assist in PSV's 3-1 victory.
 
I hope so. It seems that Dalglish is taking on much more responsibility for transfers and youth-senior team development.

According to a Swedish newspaper (they usually knows fuck all but anyway...) we are preparing an increased bid after PSV said no to our offer the other day.
 
He'll likely end up here! I don't know much of him and everyone seems to have a positive impression of the lad.
Let's see what happens.
