Wes Sneijder - good idea?

There's no way the owners will let us sign him for outrageous money, and "on the decline" is questionable at his age. I'm not saying we 100% have to sign him, but I do think we should look into it properly.

After going to great lengths in todays press to stress that we won't make the same mistakes we made with the likes of Cole and Aquilani, it'd be pretty fucking contradictory of us too.

So expect him to sign tomorrow for £120k per week.

Don't be so daft Mark. That money is earmarked for Tom Inces salary

If Sneijder decides to accept a wage cut then it probably could happen.

Echo confirming it aswell

People who are advocating signing him - have any of you seen him play on a consistent basis? i.e 5-10 games a year for a few years? I know I haven't so I've no idea how good he is. He could be fucking Messi or Shelvey. Surely someone on here has watched him that amount and will be able to advise whether he's worth a punt?
I suspect he's a load of wank and people are getting carried away by the name and who he's played for, not his performances.

Well he has been at Inter now for a few years.

Under Mourinho we saw the best of Sneijder - a level I thought he would not be able to reach and maintain for the length of a season.

The year they won the treble, what a player he was ...sheer quality, a true playmaker.

Then Mourinho left in 2010, Inter have become a farce ... since 2010 they've had Benitez, Leonardo, Gianpiero Gasperini, Ranieri & now Stramaccioni as managers ... every single one of them changing the system Inter adopt on the pitch, so it's been impossible for not only Sneijder but for anyone in the whole team to find any sort of consistency.

This season, Sneijder has hardly featured and it has nothing to do with his ability or performances ... Italian economy is screwed and all clubs are trying to reduce their wage bills ... Sneijder still has a year or two left on his contract on approximately 200k per week ... but Inter now want him to sign a new contract immediately with a much lower wage level, which he is refusing to sign - and rightly so.

It would be a shame to see him play in Turkey, he is only 28 years old and should be now playing at the peak of his game.

If Gala are still ready to offer him 100K a week after tax, that's probably twice what we'd be prepared to give him.

Gala's offer is said to at 5.4m euros (£4.5m~) which is approx £86k per week. Not sure if that figure is pre or post tax..

It's going to end up as a balance then, if he wants to end up in the wilderness of the Turkish league four years early

They are offering him 100k per week after tax.

that has to be Euros right? not sure what the tax rates are in Turkey, however in England that would equate to a weekly wage of approx £130k...Im sure at a lower offer we would still be way more attractive than Galatasaray

Exactly

the Ohareometer is saying 3%, and doesn't predict it to go up much higher than that.

Well let's be honest there are many clubs that would be interested if he dropped his wages demands. He would still be playing for inter for starters. So really its a nothing article which is just stating the obvious.

I was pretty sure until a few hours ago that most of the sneijder talk was either the twitter people going nuts over nothing or an agent creating interest for his client. The more local journos with contacts to the club are writing about the move the more its gaining credibility.

It is however the perfect time for FSG to indicate that they would like to bring someone like him in to appease the fans, then back out saying he refused to drop wage demands.

Ah well at least it registered, and what would your opinion on the idea be Mr O'H?

regards

I'm not for it at all Vlad. The cons outweigh the pros by a really long way for me.

It's easy to be seduced by his ability n all, but there's so so many reasons why it's a bad deal.

Except none of them know anything, its a twitter trending topic and the times have to sell subscriptions. and all the various comments from the club suggest this isn't a runner.

Imagine how our first 11 would look with him though
