Wes Sneijder - good idea?

Surely we can get him, and learn from the Cole misfortune. I don't want to be "coalesced" again as much as the next person, but with an inconsistent Wesley, whats the percentage chance of making the CL spots in the short term? Therein lies the answer methinks.

Sneijder, if he can be arsed, is one of the best players in the world in his position. I thought he was one of the best players at the World Cup last year. If he could reproduce that kind of form for us, it could quite literally catapult us up the league. Let's face it - he'd walk into our midfield right now, and is precisely the kind of creative, goal-scoring force we've been lacking from midfield since Gerrard lost his shooting boots a couple of years ago. Having said that, any deal for Sneijder would obviously have to account for the fact that he might fail, so it's really about how big a gamble we're prepared to take on him. For £8 million (and around £80k wages), I'd definitely be tempted.

Imo the time for sneijder to move to England was a couple of years ago. But there's no doubt the thought of signing him is exciting.

For me the answer is no, not a bad idea just risky given age, attitude, injury and adjustment to playing in England.

You can't even read, never mind spell. I said misused.

I think it's a retardism as opposed to a truism - remembering one exceptional year and presuming he'll do it again because 'class is permanent' - when all your doing is mistaking form for class.

Hes really not as good as some of you seem to think.
Hes nowhere near worth 200k a week.

Anyway all this is bullshit. I want Ozil and wont be happy till he signs.

Just had a quick look on a united forum, given they seemed to be linked every window for the past few years. It seems they all seem to hate him.

I want him now.

Haha. Yeah, there's been talk that ManUre were interested but the two sides fell out over something in the course of the negotiations. The "YNWA" tweet on Sneijder's Twitter page won't have helped either.

People who are advocating signing him - have any of you seen him play on a consistent basis? i.e 5-10 games a year for a few years? I know I haven't so I've no idea how good he is. He could be fucking Messi or Shelvey. Surely someone on here has watched him that amount and will be able to advise whether he's worth a punt?
I suspect he's a load of wank and people are getting carried away by the name and who he's played for, not his performances.

He could be our Pirlo for the next five or six Seasons.

Would be a massive signing. Best since Suarez.

A world class player in a league of few. He's no new Morientes, Cole whatever, trust me. Would be amazing if we could this off. I'd be well amazed too.

PS Pretty sure we'll buy Eriksen come Summer still. Sneijder, Eriksen, Gerrard and a new boss DM and we've suddenly got a monster midfield really comparable with the best. Add to this Hendo, Allen, Suso and Shelvey and we are good to go.

For years.

Asked about the speculation linking Inter Milan playmaker Wesley Sneijder with the Reds, Rodgers replied: "You could probably rattle off about 20 names and the answer would be the same. The club have been linked with a whole host of players, but I couldn't see that happening."

What gives you such confidence we're buying Eriksen in the summer, Kristian? Serious question.
It's a good question too mate.

The thing is, it's a perfect match. Rodgers, our style of play, Agger, Suarez, his preference for playing time and stability over money (rejected City three times and Chelsea a couple too), his value (£15-20M) and a few other highly vague arguments too.

Oh... And my knee is tinkling.

Signing Sneijder isnt a good idea. It was a good idea when Rafa fucked off Alonso, but not now.
There is obvs something wrong there when no top team will take a chance on him.

Ridiculous wages, questions about his attitude and on the decline. A big n o.

I'd rather spend that fortune on Belhanda or Eriksen.

There's no way the owners will let us sign him for outrageous money, and "on the decline" is questionable at his age. I'm not saying we 100% have to sign him, but I do think we should look into it properly.
