Wembley Here We Come! Cc Final

I just think it sucks the atmosphere out of a big occasion...that and all of the music, shouty tannoy announcers and fireworks that have to accompany any final these days.

Dunno, the Everton Semi Final I went to was fucking great. I was pissed like.

The Cardiff one was ok, but we expected to win, so I think that takes a lot away from the atmosphere. Similar to the Bolton cup final in 95.

And I didn't go to the final against Chelsea.

So I've had one great day there, and one average.

Yeah I suppose it depends on the result really doesn't it? I was at old Wembley in 86, Cardiff in 2001, 03 and 06...all of which we won...and the new Wembley in 2012 v Chelsea...which was an awful day. So not surprisingly it's the old Wembley or Cardiff for me!

I think Coutinho & Sturridge might be saved from much game time against Augburg and maybe just come on for the last 30 mins to continue their reintegration after injury and sharpen them up for the final. City are away at Kiev just 4 days before the final so that at least should even things up with our trip to Augsburg a day later.

A quick check on Physioroom and it seems 28th Feb is the earliest return date given for Skrtel, with Lucas (no date given), Lallana (no date given), Allen and Rossiter all the same or later. So bench only for Skirts, at best.

.......................... Mignolet

Clyne ..... Lovren .......... Sakho ..... Smith
----- (back on 18th Feb.) ------------- (if fit, if not then Flanno, if not fit then Moreno)

Henderson ........ Can ................. Milner

.....Sturridge ..... Firmino ..... Coutinho

Pity Stewart isn't quite there yet for a match of this magnitude, he'll make the bench though, as may Brannagan.

Subs from :
Ward, Moreno (or Flanno or Smith), Toure or Skrtel, Lucas (if fit) or Stewart, Brannagan, Ibe, Benteke, Origi (or Lallana if fit).

This will be the first final I've ever been to without my good buddy, who passed away last October. I'm going with his old man, possibly as part of the healing process. As his dad is tee total it will probably also be the first final I will attend sober, and I expect I wont even boo the national anthem.

Still looking forward to it, but it may be the last time as well as it will be a good test of how much, in recent years, my love of the Reds was a social phenomenon vs blind fanaticism.

Hate to break it to you, but it's fucking awful. Soulless bowl with some blert banging on about 'make some noise for the reds of Liverpool'. Cunthole.
Yep, I loathe the place, it's a £900million pound insult to football. Should have kept the old Wembley and put some money towards improving the Olympic stadium for football and sharing footballing duties between the two. Imagine how far that money could have gone if it was invested into grassroots football? it's a pathetic ego project by the idiots who run the FA.

Ha so true. The old Wembley had plenty of atmosphere but was a shit view from behind the goals, you were miles from the pitch

It was a fucking dump. My first memory was the 88 final, the concourse area was about 2 inches high with piss and then you got out to the seats and you were miles away, and had a big fuck off post in your way. Horrible ground. No way they could have kept that going.

I don't understand why they couldn't have created a much, much better version of the old Wembley within and kept the iconic 'twin towers' and that kind of faux, elongated colosseum vibe it had. They could have created a really cool and new iconic reversioning of the old stadium. Instead they created a shit bowl with a crappy version of the St. Louis arch hanging over it.

The ground is impressive. It's actually 3 grounds. Lower tier is Tottenhams capacity, middle is QPR's and the top is Chelsea's. I did the tour with my kid....

But the surrounding area is shithole still. No decent pubs.

Took my lad to the semi last year and we stood outside The Rocket. At least Cardiff has all the pubs around the ground.

Plus anyone driving from up north? Come off at junction 4 of the M1 turn right at the roundabout at the bottom and after about a mile you'll be at Stanmore. Easy parking, 4 stops on the jubilee line to Wembley. Just be careful that you're not parked in a parking zone. They'll enforce it like mad that day.

Inside is good.

The area surrounding is fucking grim.

And people slag Anfield off!
The area surrounding is all industry and business. Its not very attractive at all but like most grounds built in industrial areas you arent expecting much else.

The stadium is amazing though, I cant believe anyone could slag off the view, facilities or overall job they have done with the stadium. Its awesome.

My company has a corporate box there so we regularly have meetings there, and Im always impressed.
Also looks like I might be getting a lig ticket for this so im more than happy to be associated.

Ticket secured. Cannot wait.
Cock out in the stands.
Corporate? If not beer meet up? I have a ticket but my eldest lad doesn't. Which means he does, because I'll end up being the good Dad and letting him have it.

The baton has to be passed on. That said, I always hold out hope.

I am over with a friend. Sound like we should do the drinking in Town rather than the area around the stadium? Any good tip for were to meet reds?

The area around Wembley is pretty grim but if you want pre-match drinks with Liverpool fans that's where most will be, obviously. There's a list of LFC allocated pubs near the ground on the Liverpool Echo website.

I think in years gone by there was usually a congregation of fans in The Globe pub opposite Baker St tube, but your best bet is to get to the ground and choose one from the list near there.

Yeah, plus the goal where the Liverpool fans were in the 1988 Final was where none of the Liverpool goals were scored, although I did get a good view of Stuart fucking McCall's jammy efforts

I was sat in one of the sides for the Wimbledon final, which was a decent view, but we don't talk about that.

Its not corporate mate no, stands but I am a guest so dont know if I will be able to drag people around. Less we meet early doors? Ill text you.

Can't remember the name of the place but there was a multi level bar near the ground that was absolutely buzzing before the FA Cup Semi last year - guy had gotten hold of a karaoke microphone and was leading some big Gary Macca chants!

A few of us are going to be in a pub called the Green Man near Wembley. You will know it's us because we will the braying media tossers, and I will be with a man who is 45 and still has long hair called Sean. He looks a bit like a cross between Jan Molby and Bruce Dickinson.
