Well done Roy..

Yep it was even against a good side. So we could just as easily won as lost. They're penalty came from a shit decision to award a freekick, and another ref on another day could have given us a penalty of our own. Fine margins. That's hard luck.

It was a very entertaining game. End to end. We could have been 3 - 0 up but in fairness that would have been an injustice to spurs. In the end I think a draw would have been a fair result

Although I for one want Roy gone, today Im not going to blame him

I think a draw would have been fair. We created lots of chances as did they, but they scored theirs so we can't complain.

I do wonder why our players

A: Prefer to take extra touches in the box than shoot, Nando especially

B: seem to be desperate to pass to Reina when 1-0 up. There was one pass by Kuyt(?) that nearly got us in so much shit.

Oh, and maxi needs to stop playing with his back 180 to goal.

Konchesky was a really bad buy from Roy, considering he worked with him every day and knew his limitations. He's still better than Insua, but not by much! Suppose the limitations on the budget can excuse it a bit.

Poulsen and KOnchesky.

8 million worth of crap.
it's actually at least £9.5m - konchesky's fee was £5m but that was based on dalla valle and kacaniklic being worth £750k each...if they go on to be at all successful then his fee effectively rises in line with their valuations.

The deal was about 3.5 million which comprises of those 2 players.

Your view is that it's 3.5 million cash plus those 2 players?

Konchesky was skinned by Lennon ...... once.

Is he the only left back ever to have been skinned by Lennon? ???

i'm sure that's what was reported. £3.5m cash plus the kids at £1.5m. where have you seen different?

He was skinned by Lennon more than once. Anyways, who cares... Konchesky is an average player and how he fared against Lennon doesn't really tell us anything new about him.

I thought we played reasonably well overall against Spurs and were unlucky not to come away with at least a point. That said, I have no problems with being unfair to Hodgson or anyone else that does. I don't have any desire to "get behind him" or "support" him in any way.

At least twice, Portly. In the opening minutes, and again at the end. Unfortunately, the latter lapse of concentration cost us the match. I don't think Konchesky's quite as shit as he's made out to be on this forum, but he's certainly not good enough.

I haven't, pete; the figure has been mooted at about 3 or 4 million in a cash plus players deal and I guessed that would be a total (inclusive of the 2 players).

Maybe it is 3.5 million plus 1.5 million worth of players as you've assumed.

i haven't assumed anything mate! i just remember the £5m figure being widely quoted at the time. i could be wrong, that's just what i remember.

unfair on torres. He loked a constant threat, however still isn't at his best. The ref gave a lot to them, granted, but he didn't cost us the game.
He did mate. They got that free kick which led to there pen,Granted they missed but it just built up there momentum. Also we should have had a pen and also he booked 5 players of ours and not one of theres,Thats right the ref didnt cost us.
i still don't think it was a pen as assou ekotto won the ball then the momentum took him through kuyt.
like glen johnsons 2 mins later outside the box for which he got booked.
blaming the inconstancy of the ref as judgement for a pen isn't good. It shouldn't have been a free kick when johnson did it, same when the pen wasn't given
Making a rash two footed tackle that takes you through a player is a foul and a booking and it doesn't matter if you get the ball first. We were robbed of a clear penalty there.
Essou akottos was hardly 2 footed
I'll have to look at it again but I recall it was at least 1,5 footed. 😉

Anyways if you go in with too much force it doesn't matter if you get the ball it's still a foul.

He didn't show a pair of balls with the N'Gog sub. 10/15 mins left, Spurs dead on their feet and the game to be won. We're on top and we put Fabio fucking Aurelio on! That cowardly change pissed me off.

If he has his back 180 degrees to the goal, doesn't that mean he's facing it?

I was referring to Alan Green and Mike Ingham on BBC Five Live. Green especially was still on about it in the first bit of that phone-in he chairs after matches.

So are you criticising Roy based on a game you haven't seen ?

I hope not, because that would just be embarrassing.

At last you showed a pair of balls.Today he picked the side that 99% of supporters would have picked.
We wanted 442 and we got it.

I dont rate konchesky at all but thought he done ok today and ask yourself this.Name any player in the world whos standing virtuall
Yes, well done Budgie. Yet another defeat, another away game with no points, 10th in the league, six defeats before we even get to December, and our worst start to the season in about 60 years

Cheers
y still who would have caught lennon today? not fuckin one.

Hodgson set us up brilliantly today and those who just want to blame the manager are wankers.

We were outstanding today and if you want to vent your anger how about doing it towards our number 9 who was fuckin awful? Oh sorry you cant do that as your breaking the flow were its easy to blame the manager.

Correct team Correct formaton.

Shit no 9 and shit referee.
agreed totally. In addition i would state that we are showing signs of improvement, although we are a long way off we are shown improvement.

I wouldn't say we were hard done by. We played well, but Tottenham had just has many chances as us, plus a penalty.
Actually I would.

Torres, Maxi and then Torres again had absolutely solid gold chances to score and we didn't even get a shot on target - normally you'd have said 2 out of 3 for those three. At the very very worst one ... and we got SFA.

Their penalty wasn't a penalty, you could say he was protecting his face or you could look at the replays and conclude rightly that he actually handled it outside the box.

Superb play by MoM Modric ..... but Pepe had it covered and Skrtel was unlucky to gift them an OG.

Johnson and Miereles both got contact on the ball .. no matter how slight ... yet ended up with yellows.

Kuyt was taken out by EA - replays showed he did not get the ball, at all ! How was that not a penalty ?

We were hard done by .. we deserved a point and if Torres had not been a plastic imitation of himself we'd have had all three.

Watched the game with the sound off and Five Live commentary, which I find far more atmospheric than the TV effort.

A good defender would have anticipated Crouch's deflection. Awful marking from Konchesky.
Torres had no support. N'gog was invisble. Kuyt should play up front with Torres and Aurelio for N'gog was a Rafa-like cautious substitution.
Maxi lost us this game
Our best away game of the season, but no, I wouldnt say well done Roy.

Yeah, I wouldn't particularly say well done Roy either; that's the sort of performance - minus the finishing - that I'd like to see each week. I know people are caning Torres and his failure to get a shot off in either case was terrible but I liked his running. He was back helping the defense on a few occasions and while not everything he did came off his effort was better than most of this season.

I thought Kuyt was terrible in most aspects of the game and Konchesky was poor for most of the game IMO. He's not anywhere near as bad as plenty of reactionists like to claim on here but he certainly wasn't good.

Roy wasn't brilliant in this one but he certainly wasn't the problem either; we went at them the way we want Liverpool to go at teams and tore them apart on several occasions. 2-0 and I think the game is over but it wasn't to be and I just hope Roy doesn't get cold feet and revert the way Rafa did. We play like that away from home and we'll win the majority of them - Torres couldn't miss that many chances again if he was in a coma.
