Nice words from the Guardian:

Yet his achievements are strangely underplayed: the man has won four English titles, for goodness sake, and fashioned arguably the greatest pure footballing side the league has ever seen. (Liverpool's 1987-88 team could teach modern-day Arsenal a thing or two about trying to walk the ball into the net.)
Sweeeeet!
Fuck there were some great team-goals back then. Remember when Macca ran out and stopped tha balll on the touchline (would have been our throw in anyway) before we splitted the Arsenal defence with some smooth passing. Orgasmic.
McMahon?

Yeah

We didn't try to walk the ball into the net though. We played beautiful, effective football and won the league easily that season.

So nothing like the current Arsenal side at all really.

Indeed. They'd have given us a game, but we'd have beaten them something like 4-2 or 5-2 IMO.

Who else would Macca be?
I can't remember the moment he's talking about, soz like.

I will be chanting Dalglish at my telly for at least half an hour before kick-off at Old Toilet.
Excellent!
Kenny's been out of management a long time (about 15 years at a quick guess?) so the modern game has altered drastically since his last stint, but he will command the instant respect of Gerrard and Carra obviously and hopefully get the likes of Johnson, Torres and Cole performing to the kind of form that earned their reputation.

er...C'mon the Reds and all that noise.

We beat Arsenal 2-0, Macca stopped the ball going out, it was crossed in for Aldo to score.
Beardsley score the other one with a lovely dink over the keeper.

I remember Beardsley's goal, I struggle to remember goals we scored a few weeks ago these days.

Oh.

I wonder who will sort the defence out and how it will shape up? It's been horribly exposed this season and needs the protection of a "real" DM, and we need to start defending as a team again.

I think if we start playing a higher defensive line it will help us, and get Reina playing the way he has for the past few seasons. Obviously we're still in need of a DM, but a simple adjustment to the way we've played will also help. Maybe starting Kelly at RB too, and hopefully having Aurelio and Agger fit for a while too.

Oh heck, I've just thought. Kenny had Lawrenson as his defence coach at the Toon. Please, no.
I hate Lawro, the horrible seedy wanker.

(Great player though).

I don't think they'd have scored against us.

That quote was Phil Babb's greatest contribution to LFC ever!
nah, that'll be the second. I get that "oooowwwww" sorry feeling for him, sliding in and cracking his nuts on the goalpost while trying (and predictably failing) to prevent a goal. After which, I broken up in hysterical laughter. Good times.
Phil Babb - liverpool - goal post

Let's get Hansen to quit the BBC and come back as Kenny's defence coach.

haha... would he get the sack for commenting on the no comment instruction?

One things for certain, if we're still shit after Kenny has been there for a bit, then we can all move on to the players and lay the blame at their door.

I think we need to have a rule on 6CM that we don't criticise Kenny. At least nothing abusive or offensive. He's risking his own reputation and a taking on a huge amount of stress to help rescue the club he loves. He's also doing something he hasn't done for a long, long time. It's not going to be easy. Whatever problems he faces, and whatever defeats we suffer in the next six months (and we will: the squad is still pretty poor), we need to stick together now and get behind the manager, the players and the club.

YNWA King Kenny.

+1
Especially anyone who clamoured for his return, including those who chanted his name at matches.
