Weekend games 21-22 sep

I really really dont want Arsenal to win the league. That legohead manager and their awful fans will be even more unbearable. For ever. Cant happen.

If City get a points deduction this season then someone else need to step up.
Early days but we look the only ones capable.

Arsenal are looking strong. They are ready to win the title. They've got that extra edge, a better keeper, and they can win games in all manner of ways. Despite his lightbulb-waving antics, Legohead knows what the team needs and has proven he can fix those issues. They were unlucky not to hang on for all three points.

The hostility in this fixture has seriously ramped up. I wouldn’t be shocked if we see more red cards and injuries in the return game. It's taken a few years for this fixture to lift off. It's there now and long may it last. It's better for neutrals and our interests.

If Rodri has torn his ACL, it could be a season-defining blow for City. Rodri is irreplaceable, but more than that, City don't have a Rodri-light player that can step in. It was meant to be Phillips but Pep called him fat and sent him packing. They'll be pleased to have Gundogan back, but still... A long-term Rodri injury is the most efficient way of disrupting this City side.

On the foul on the keeper point, Ederson basically bumps into Martinelli (engineered by the Arsenal man, admittedly) but then he falls to the floor like a sack of spuds. I think if he'd been stronger and fought back he might have got the foul (or even got close to the ball). As it is, it just looks like he's looking for the opportunity to hit the deck so he doesn't get the foul. I always think refs are more inclined to award a foul when the player tries to ride it before hitting the deck because they don't think he's trying to con them.
Basically, Ederson is a massive fanny.

Didn't we score from a corner in the last game? And from a second 'virtual corner' from Trent?!
"AC Milan seemed an aberration"

Doesn't change the fact that we're a physically dominant side with excellent passers of the ball; we should be higher than 8th in set piece goals

I wonder if Rodri injury means they will go all out to get Zubi in January ?

Two Arsenal players (Martinelli and Saliba) are going for the keeper, only. Boxing him in. Its a foul all day long when you obstruct the player with no intention of going for the ball.
Ederson makes a meal of it but it doesnt change the fact that he cant move. Its the same thing Allardyce used to do with Kevin Davies.
The refs said they would give fouls for that this season, but thats going just as great as everything else PGMOL are doing.

So Rodri out for the season and will be some way below his best for at least a season after that, if he ever gets back to that level.
We need to make hay while The Lying Rag is shining.

I'm gutted for the lad, really.....

Fair fucks @Modo you called it early and right.
By chance, some doc on twitter tweeted it. Probably diagnosed it from the video. Honestly I searched twitter for "Rodri ACL" because of the way the knee moved. Seen it before.
Matip injured his knee the same way.

So now if you are near the keeper and don’t dive out of the way, in a crowded pen box, it’s a foul?

Not a rule I ever remember!

If it were it’d be reasonably easy for all keepers to claim being blocked all the time. Defenders would crowd attackers into the keeper!

Don’t try to be humble, you’re now officially SCM’s armchair physio and remote diagnosis specialist. If you can add dark spells and curses against opposition players to your skills, even better.
