We have a top four squad

Yes we do, and had the key members of that squad stayed fit, Rafa would have gotten them into the Top 4 last season.
Maybe he would if this and that happened. But he was not able to use his squad to get us to top four spot. He was unable to change anything given his injuries, and made decisions that left us out of the league race, The CL, The FA Cup and the league cup in early January.

We had a better squad than Spurs and City this season. We just couldnt use it and hence we finished behind. We have much better squad than Villa i.e. Still we barely finished ahead of them....
Would it dissapoint you to learn we didn't finish ahead of villa?

So I actually should go around and be disspointed now.... YOh fucking dear....

Spurs squad isn't all that. It seemed old 'Arry was capable to overclock the team and get them playing half decent football.

They've got defensive frailties and squad wise they're on a par with us.

With a new manager and fresh blood playing new football with our current spine of winners, we should finish 4th or above.

Anything less is a clear failure with the current crop of players, should be achieving so much more...
I think Spurs have much more strength in depth of squad than us.
So do I.

I find it baffling that, having just sat through last season, people are arguing otherwise.

Did I dream it? Or are we shit when Torres is injured and Gerrard's anything less than superhuman.
They have a squad full of talent, pace and options. Whereas we have about 14 players and a load of kids and shit.
That is bulshit. We have more players in the world cup than anyone else including Barca and Real, and Spurs has the squad full of pace and talent???

As I say, we have about 14 players, and they are all at the WC. Pretty much everything else is gash or inexperienced.

Midfield:
David Bentley
Aaron Lennon
Jermaine Jenas
Wilson Palacios
Luka Modric
Niko Kranjcar
Tom Huddleston
Danny Rose
Jake Livermore
Dean Parrett
Ryan Fredericks
Andros Townsend
Paul-Jose M'Poku

Strikers:
Jermaine Defoe
Peter Crouch
Robbie Keane
Roman Pavlova
Eidjur Gudjonsen

That is where they have it, their attacking 6 is much more dangerous than ours. As already said for the last 12 months, if Gerrard or Torres are injured we have fuck all. Like, proper fuck all.

Is that midfield gang supposed to scare somone?

I am not impressed by their "attacking" six and had we in all decency tried to attack every now and then istead of pissing our pants i fright of loosing, we should have been way ahead of Spurs.

Due to our over-reliance on two players, we would have never finished above them if one or two of *said* players are injured for more than three hours.
The same will happen again this season if Gerrard and Torres miss 40% of the season.

PS. The midfield of Jenas, Huddleston, Palacios, Bentley, Lennon, Modric and Krankjar pisses all over our midfield of Lucas, Babel, Yossi, Riera, Kuyt and Mascher. (SG played up front under Rafa remember). They are so much more offensive and dynamic, and they actually played for their manager. Although a new manager may turn around the fortune of some of our baggage listed above.

They play the way they are instructed to play. Kuyt, Mascher and Babel are in South Africa now. Yossi had a shit start stop season after being impressiv in last spring. Aquilani is discussed in another thread. And Riera was actually playing well for club and very well for Spain last season. There is no other reason for our midfield to underperform than that they are mis managed.

Babel is shit. Kuyt will never be a midfielder. But yeah, I agree with the mismanaged bit. That is why they finished above us.
Edit again. I forgot Maxi too. Sorry Maxi.

It scared ours. Because it's better.

Apart from Masher (leaving) we only have Aquilani and Lucas in CM - both shit, and easily bettered by Spurs' options - and their wide attacking players piss all over ours too, in that Lennon/ Bale/ Modric/ Krancjar are better than anything we've got.

And as for the attack, we have Torres. That's it.

Apart from all of that, yeah, you're right.

Ok then, so who out of spurs team would we take, and are better than ours?

Modric
Palacios
Bale
Lennon
Defoe

I reckon those would walk into our squad. The others i think are equal ish to what we have already.

Spurs have a better squad, but we have the better first team.

If we were set up right and remain injury free, our squad could be back in the top four next year.

We have Mascher (he is not leaving). Andyou cannot take him out of the comparison. The we have Gerrard as a midfielder if needed. WLucas is shit, I admit that. But Aquilani is far from shit, he has just not been given a chance to rpove himself.... Babel is shit. I keep on reading that. But I disagree, he is shit in the way we play football, not when playing for netherlands or when he played for Ajax. He was fairly good back then, but this dowfall in form has a lot to do with lack of chances to establish himself cmbined with an ultradefnsive role in the team. Riera played fairly well for both us and Spain last season. He looked lively and he linked very well up with attacking players when playig for Spain.

We have Torres, whe have Kuyt and we have Gerrard as attacking options. They should all be able to offer soemthing. We have Ngog as back up, and I dont like that but i additon we can use Babel up there if needed.

But hey you are probably right about that god praised and extremely good Spurs midfield.

He is not leaving.

And to say a player is shit without arguing why he fails to meet anyones standard, and he still ends up going to his 3rd big tournament in a row it makes me not even bother to arguing why I am allways right.

Mascher and Palacios cancel each other out, as neither offers anything at all going forward. They have much more creativity than ours, proven creativity. Aquaman is just potential. Modric krankjar Lennon and Bale delivered week in week out last season. Lucas and Babel might as well deliver the paper.
