WBA thoughts

great performance. luis good as ever, solid at the back, and thought big andy was playing with a lot more confidence after his goal - he should start with luis against the swans

Good result, take the points - and the obsessive focus on carroll continues to bore 🙂

Kenny dominated budgie, order is restored. We can't ask for more ( well maybe some more flair in the midfield).

happy with how we played. good creativity and solid defensively. At the beginning of the season I was impressed with downing but I think he is in a spell of poor form having played poorly for the last few games. Hopefully he can find some good form soon.

We took it to them from the word go, created bags of pressure and chances throughout. We scored two. They scored nowt. Do fucking rightly.

The good:
Enrique (though some of his passing was poor), Skrtel, Lucas, Suarez, and as the game wore on, Carroll.

The professional:
Everyone else except...

The bad:
...Downing. Shame he couldnt score near the end there. He needs a lift.

Solid performance from back to front. Only criticism is we should and could have scored a few more. Still, 2 goals and a clean sheet away from home is impressive.

Well played lads.

Are you going to provide your thoughts, Neil old lad?
[/quote]

sure 😉

okay,

1. I thought our movement was frigging brilliant, okay you can argue wba stood off us but we moved the ball so quickly and made so many runs off the ball we must have been difficult to pick up.

2. kudos to the linesman for waving for the pen, the ref wasn't going to give it and to be honest I wasn't calling for it but you look at the reply and it's a definate penalty. outside the box a body check like that would result in a freekick 10 times out of 10 so why so it be any different inside the box?

3. charlie adam should take our penalties. the pressure he was under must have been huge given the amount of time wba delayed the kick.
we'd probably have 2 more points had adam (rather than suarez) taken the pen v s'land, but I digress.

4. agger and skrtel looked very assured together and have a good understanding, yeah 'it was only 'brom' but it is what it is.
I've give the two a run. am I correct in thinking we've only kept 3 clean sheets and agger played in those games?

5. suarez and carroll and starting to click, they are looking for each others runs and carroll is giving luis that extra yard of space by occupying defenders. long may it continue. play carroll every game kenny.

6. enrique is our player of the season after suarez.

7. henderson is taking more responsibility, I think he is growing with confidence after looking like a deer in headlights.

8. downing looks like he is losing confidence by the game that shot of his at the end could really have done with going in to give him a boost. if his slump continues I'd go with bellamy or maxi.

9. we didn't miss dirk

10. the pundits will say wba were rubbish but we were very proffessional and didn't give them a sniff to get back into the game especially given how hostile the crowd grew after the penalty.

Considering we lost there last time out ... And we are shit n that .... And ... And ... 3 points.
Get the fuck in!

Kudos to the Linno for waving for the penalty you mean? The Ref wasn't going to give it.

that's exactly what I meant.

Good game all around, bit disapointed that we didnt connect on any of those break aways in the second half.
Kudos to Skrtel and Agger who were very good together. Should start against Swansea aswell.

Happy for Carroll, took his goal well.

Easy to say this now but Bellamy and Maxi on the flanks instead of Hendo and Downing, i reckon we'd have knocked a few more goals in.

I know this may not count for much in some people's eyes but we defiantely move the ball faster front to back when henderson in the team.

😉 Agree with all your others points. some real positives to take from the match... Main one has to be Carroll's performance and his general link up play with Suarez.

Perhaps a coincidence but am I the only one thinking Skrtel looked less out of position tonight compared to most performances alongside Carra? He was very good today.

Am I the only one thinking Johnson had a great game? Enrique as well but he gave wba their best chance first half mind.

he needs games, bellamy strikes me as the sort of player so could miss three games in a row come in on the 4th game and still be excellent but carroll (at least in my opinion) needs a run of games to get to his best. you can clearly see the more he plays the better he gets which is why I was surprised he was dropped after the everton game but he was improving every game and then when he capped the performances with a goal he was promptly dropped.

skrtel was very good today. there was one instance where he cut out a cheeky through ball, snuffed out the danger early. impressed with him to today and agger, was well, agger. 😉

once again, you are insane to think Johnson had a great game. He did nothing really positive attacking outside of the first 20 minutes and he was poor defensive as always. Standing off his man, poor tackling, giving up free kicks, and having to be protected constantly by Henderson and Lucas.

Quite sure we didnt watch the same game then.

He looked very good to me throughout.

Look if you think running away backwards from his man to let Lucas take over instead of taking the ball like Kelly would is great then woopie. I expect a much better defender from the RB position. I miss Arbeloa so much, well not really when Kelly is playing. But, replacing Arbeloa with Johnson has always made me sad.

Johnson didn't get dragged out of positing and he didn't let them swing crosses in all game but he was getting turned but you can put that down to easing himself in after TWO hamstring injuries.

He didn't stop a single cross from coming in, and there was one cross that I remember he just stood there and let come in, from Tchoyi.

Also, he wasn't getting turned he just stood off his man and let them do what they want until someone else came over to help him and I won't excuse him from that because he usually does that. In general, he is not a good tackler.

Johnson did not have a good game IMO.

He very rarely does.
