sadly no, but all the left backs who are quick, clever and powerful would cost us all 4 limbs. 2/3 is ideal for me. A brain would be nicebut considering we were linked to figeroa for 7m in the summer i don't see how 5m for taiwo could bite us on the bum

unless it does then i'll hate myself

Actually, if we're set on re-signing former LBs, we should really go for Riise.

Would be fun just to see Neil's reaction ;D

Stephen Warnock's hopes of leaving Aston Villa this month rest on the Midlands club lowering their demands for a substantial loan fee.

Warnock is eager to play first-team football elsewhere after being dropped from the Villa side following the 4-0 defeat by Manchester City last month. The England international has not been in the Villa squad since and has been training with the reserves.

Liverpool are keen to take Warnock back to Anfield, where he started his career before moving to Blackburn Rovers, and several other Premier League clubs have also expressed an interest in the 29-year-old.

Villa, however, are understood to be looking for a loan fee in excess of £500,000 as well as stipulating that the left-back's wages are covered in full. Liverpool have made it clear they would not be willing to meet those demands.

I don't want Warnock, but I suppose the one advantage of getting him on loan over signing someone like Taiwo is that we won't be stuck with him at the end of the season.

By all accounts, Taiwo strong and powerful, but lacks a footballing brain. If that's true - and putting aside the "better than what we've got" argument - is he really the type of player we want to target?
As opposed to Warnock, who's slight, weak and lacks a footballing brain.

£500,000 loan fee as well as his wages, Villa can fuck right off

People who still rate Riise are suffering from memory loss.

You however seem to have no memory of who we replaced him with; and the 4 million extra we paid for the privilege.

Isn't Sven from Denmark...anyway, I don't hate him.
But I do remember Riise poor passing, positioning, aerial ability, crossing and his God awful right foot.
Sure he is a big lad, strong, quick and had a cannon for a left foot. But in the end I just don't think it was enough.

Sure in hindsight maybe Rafa was wrong in letting him go considering his replacements were Aurelio, Dossena, Insua and now Konchesky. But if I remember it correctly we all felt that the left fullback spot needed improvement. His own goal against Chelsea didn't help either.

And to be honest I think Aurelio would have been a better player for us if he wasn't made of glass.

HEY!

He's from Finland!

Don't drag us Norwegians into all this.
In their eyes Hansern, we are all the same.

All the same.

*weeps quietly*

Whoops sorry..

Thought the blue striped flag was Norway.

Though I should have known; a Norwegian wouldnt slate a Norwegian player ;D

He had one shit season. He was a great servant to the club, scored some cracking goals, gave his all and was part of one of the meanest defences that we've had.

The way he was treated by some brainless bellends was a joke.

I feel a little guilty for getting on riise back but the truth is for the majority of riise's liverpool career he was outstanding, so I apologise for that.

No he wasn't. He hit a dip, like alot of players do at some point, shit happens, he was quality and one of the best left backs in the game for several years too, but yeah, just remember him hitting a bad patch.

heh, I didn't mean you, though I never quite got why you didn't rate him. He wasn't quite the technician, nor the out and out brilliant defender, but his play and quality was balanced between the two and he scored some fantastic goals, he was a good fullback and versatile too.

31 goals in 5 seasons.

Actually the fact that he got slated for hitting poor form didnt annoy me so much; it was the constant reference to the oggie.

He's a defender, it happens.

This is my favourite goal, even though it didnt amount to much.

The goal against the Mancs 3-1 is my second fave tho.
