What kind of a liverpool fan slams a new young signing before he has even had a chance to bed in.

Setanta just said they're hearing Torres could be a lengthy suspension.

Anyone seen the tackle?
Studs up slide tackle that got nothing of the man. Nothing to write home about but Torres looking his old self again.

Hard fought win for us and great to see Gerrard get a run out again. We need to be more ruthless and clinical in front of goal.

What kind of a liverpool fan slams a new young signing before he has even had a chance to bed in. Show some loyalty and let the somewhat over rawed and under confident kid get his legs. Maybe it won't work out but we shouldn't be making our pressure and hyper criticism a factor in his failure. Sing him a few songs, put your arms around him and get off his back.

Touche Sheiky! I'll dodge that hodge podge bait. Thanks anyway. But I 'm talking about a kid who need our backing - confidence is clearly A make or break factor at this point don't you think...

Some of us could see the disaster before it unfolded though, I got fucking LOADS of abuse for daring to say he was useless

Henderson is garbage. He might come good, but he looks an utter fucking waste right now, we could have spent that £16m on someone quick and more direct. It's pointless having him AND Downing wide as they're too similar in style and pace.
Disagree

Downing actually fucking tries
Yeah harsh on Downing Mark. Thought he was good today.

Henderson is afraid to put a foot wrong. Express yourself lad.
I didn't mean it like that mate, I mean Downing needs a more direct, quick attacker on the other flank to compliment him, Henderson is too similar in terms of the fact that his strength seems to be in stopping the ball and pinging it in, Downing has more in his locker but essentially we still lack that tricky wide player.

No worries.
I'm just praying zlatan doesn't have a pop.

He scares me.

I get the sentiment, but we're not talking about £5m players anymore, we're talking about multi million pound signings brought in as a so called leg up to help us get back amongst the pack and challenging. If that's the way football's gone then so be it, but the price is that people are going to want an instant impact, or at least a glimpse that there's something there. I don't see that at all with the lad, sorry. I don't think that's arsey or knee-jerk given the price. He might come good eventually, but given the money we've spent, the form of our rivals and the competitiveness of the league these days, we can't really afford to be saying, "well play the lad for 10 games and then decide". He needs to be having some sort of impact otherwise he needs to just be on the bench and be getting appearances here and there to ease him in, if, as it seems, he's not ready. It's costing us and there are better players waiting on the side lines.

The same goes for Carroll aswell.

I want him to succeed mate but he isn't justifying his inclusion in the first 11 week in week out. If we want him to find his feet and gain some confidence how about we ease him into games and keep him ticking over. Many of us are showing loyalty to players who have a history of doing the business for us, for example Kuyt. Should we throw them to the scrap heap while our new players are allowed u games to drift past him.

No one is saying Henderson will be a failure, quite the opposite. He has plenty of positive attributes to succeed here but at the moment he doesn't seem to be showing any personality to express himself for us.

My thoughts

Carroll and Suarez are clicking. I fucking love it
Adam is a lazy cunt in the second half. Could barely be arsed to defend which fucked me off. Spearing should play there if Gerard is going to play off Carroll.
Finally
Jordan cunting Henderson

I'm not writing him off forever, but he's a fucking gutless bastard. Didn't want to tackle, didn't want to pass it forward, continually drifted to the middle leaving Kelly alone.
I liked the lad, but this performance and the last have put me off him completely.
Yet he waltzed into the team, didn't justify his inclusion yet he remains in the first 11. He's footballs equivalent to painting by numbers at the mo Fabio. Dirk needs to start the Derby, he has a good record against Everton and will get involved.
Yep.
Henderson will pee his pants if he starts/plays in the derby.
Ah no he'd be fine, he'd keep the ball, retain possession without much of a impact, but Maxi can do that. We need a little bit more from Henderson if he is to be kept in the team.

We need to go there up for a battle next week, Bellamy and Kuyt should be in contention.
Oh totally agree. I'd play Kuyt and bring on Bellamy.

All very fair points and i agree fully. However, why is Kenny continuing to play him? The lad is clearly not ready to play week in and week out for a Club desperate to get back into the Champions League.
To makes matters worse he's playing ahead of proven, experienced players.

Im not saying Henderson should rot in the reserves but he should be a squad player at best. This season anyway.

Ha, I reread that and noticed. Ahh well.

AT 16 million, Henderson is many multis.

The point is the club has spent huge amounts of money on players who so far either can't hack it or need more time befoer we know if they can hack it.

What's that I hear?

'It's not your money so who cares how much was spent'

Yay.

Fair comment ILD and Mark-but the question begs how does a player bed in? Playing games regularly or being eased in here and there. Nani and Andersen are examples for ME. Bedded or gradually given time to adapt, no great shakes initially but now better players. Key players. The trouble is at Liverpool we want success so badly we judge players very quickly - he's brutal, great, or a workhorse. How does a good player become great? Playing often or easing? I have no idea really, but you can only look to previous players/examples..

I thought thierry henry was pretty average pre arsenal and in france 1998, but then he became a player of his generation....how can this happen with our rough diamonds 🙂

Whats the consensus from his sunderland days? Good on the wing - in a makeshift way? Better in middle ?

If you had glenjo doing his thing, I wonder if it makes sense to have a steady eddie type to cover/ slot in?
While glenjo is flying into enemy territory? Is this the thinking behind not having a flair player (anyone see Mata gifting Nani space for that goal last week?)
