Islandic midfielder Victor Palsson has left us for a loan-deal with Dagenham & Redbridge for the rest of the year.

- Everyone at the club has told me it would be a good opportunity for me to improve and develop. I've also talked to players like Gerrard and Agger about the move and they've said I should take my chance if the opportunity arrived for a loan deal, Palsson explains to Frettabladid. (Iclandic newspaper I reckon)

Slightly surprised by the club he's gone to, after being linked with 'bigger' ones like Peterborough and Plymouth. Dagenham & Redbridge are struggling badly at the moment but he'll probably get more chances over there than at a promotion challenging/midtable lower league side.

Dagenham & Redbridge have signed Victor Palsson from Liverpool on a youth loan. A youth loan is similar to an emergency loan but allows the player to stay more than the usual 93 days. The 19-year-old, Iceland U21 international, who is a regular in the Red's reserve side, will join the Daggers initially to January.

Liverpool have given permission for him to play in the FA Cup tie with Leyton Orient this weekend and he can play in all future rounds subject to the Daggers drawing Liverpool in any round.

Palsson arrived at Anfield in Janaury 2009 and featured for the first-team during the summer's pre-season preparations in Switzerland.

The midfielder/defender will wear squad number 14.

Palsson adds skill, technique and tenacity to middle of the park

WITH no name or number on the back of his shirt, some Daggers fans would have been forgiven for asking who the new guy was in central midfield on Saturday.

However, it only took a few well-placed passes and incisive interceptions for debutant Victor Palsson (pictured above) to command their attention.

Having signed on a youth loan from Liverpool two days earlier, the Icelandic under-21 starlet was thrown straight into the engine room of a fiercely-contested lower league derby game.

With his last game action having come in a Reds reserve fixture against Sunderland on Tuesday, it’s fair to say the game was a change of pace for the physically imposing 19-year-old, but one that he increasingly stamped his authority on.

“It was great to play the first game on the home pitch,†said Palsson after the match. “The fans were great and I couldn’t be happier.â€

His manager John Still will have been just as pleased by the first impression made by the teenager, who grew in confidence and was soon showcasing an array of tricks and flicks in the middle of the park.

In a three-man midfield with another recent loan capture in Solomon Taiwo and the tireless Romain Vincelot, the Daggers axis was as athletic as it has ever been this season and will only improve as the trio begin to develop a regular understanding.

Palsson is touted as a highly-regarded prospect at Anfield and, on a first glance, may prove to be one of Still’s shrewdest captures of the season.

From what I've seen of him, I like him a lot. Although I haven't seen him since Setanta went bankrupt.
